worked well in frog terrarium Potted plants

This gave me the peace of mind of having clean, non-toxic potting soil for my frog terrariums. I have also used this as part of a bioactive blend. A bit pricey but worth it to be safe.

So! A lot of! Mold!

It's so easy to mold it's not even funny. I usually use ABG mix, but when setting up a new tank I wanted to try it. I mixed peat moss and coco coir, but despite my attempts to rake it about 3 times a week, it still came out very compact. I had to dismantle the whole tank, buy a new substrate, a new drainage layer and new wood to keep my little honeycomb from getting a respiratory infection. Just buy an ABG mix and stay away from it all! It will cost you much more than just a bag!

I need subtropical soil.

Although this product is advertised for a tropical habitat I decided to try it in a beginner aquarium for my fire skink pup that needs a subtropical environment. The soil had to contain moisture and moisture, but the air didn't. I mixed a 10 liter bag of Reptizoo and water with a puffed coco brick and a tuft of damp spagnum moss and it was enough to fill a 20 gallon (12 x 12 x 30) tank with about 4 inches of substrate.
