EPIC FAIL - CANNOT USE ON GATED CHEESE

I've had a lot of cheese graters and this is the worst. It looks and feels good, but all the grated cheese collects in the grating roller. It took forever to get it on my food (which turned out to be cold after struggling with various utensils to scoop the wrapped shredded cheese out of the small roll). A colossal failure. Now I can't remove the handle from the grater so I can't remove the grater roller to clean it. I am returning it as is and dirty as I cannot take it apart to clean it. Really

Pros
  • Great for me

  • Some problems

Won't stand up to grating, peeling and slicing

We bought 2 of these graters and they just haven't stood the test of time. They both worked great until they broke. The first one had a broken handle and we decided to buy another one thinking maybe I was being too strict with it. The second got a crack in the case after about a year. One crack led to the next crack, and they grew slowly, and now this thing is about to collapse. I've been watching him to get the last bit out of him, but it's useless. Grating hard cheese is no easy task, but…

Improved design is always better.

I love grated parmesan in pasta and salads and it's my favorite kitchen toy. Disassembling and cleaning the crumbs is not difficult at all. My old version of this grater broke at the base of the screw (on the handle) and that part of the construction appears to be unchanged, so I use this grater with caution. The grinder's tooth pattern has been improved and cuts better with a little less effort, so that's a good thing. However, I prefer the shape of the old model's body because it's easier to…

Disappointing Tool: Kitchen Utensils and Gadgets

This is a very limited tool. It goes well with parmesan and pecorino. forget it too As other reviewers have pointed out, this thing clogs up quickly with most other cheeses and takes a hell of a time to clean. I've had a similar device for years that has worked great with all types of cheese, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't work the way it's supposed to. This is just terrible. If it was more expensive I would return it. Whatever it is, it saves me a bit of parmesan and romaine hassle, and it's a…

Easy to use, feels heavy in hands

I bought this to replace my old Zylliss which is 10 years old and noticed that there are some improvements as well as some flaws on this model. First, the grater is really effective—I only have to turn the grater in a full circle a few times to grate an entire mini block of parmesan cheese. The grater is also very easy to disassemble and clean, just like my old one. The main disadvantage is that the handle is harder to hold in your hands. There's no real "edge," so I find myself keeping my hand

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

too much work to clean without a dishwasher

I have used this cheese grater for parmesan and cheddar. I really like how well the cheese is grated, but on both ways I tried, the cheese rose up and wedged into the grater without even falling onto the plate when held straight face down became. When that happens, I've had to use a knife or something to try to get the cheese off the grater, mash the grated cheese and try to pull it inside me so that it doesn't even grate anymore but accumulates more. Because of this, I wouldn't even try to use
