Know what you are buying.

The LG 34UM68-P is primarily designed for gaming and the 21:9 aspect ratio is perfect for watching movies. So you know what you're getting into at 2560 x 1080 resolution. It's going to be a bit grainy for text and general use, even with LG's awesome menu options. If you're considering getting one of these, do so if you're a gamer, and not just because it's one of the cheapest 34-inch monitors out there. Also keep in mind that not all games support this aspect ratio and some never will, as many video game developers see it as an unfair advantage. Overwatch is a great example of this. You will end up with black bars on both sides and Blizzard has no plans to support that. However, the monitor itself is much more exciting for the games that support it and it is worth buying this monitor. Stand: A HUGE improvement over the previous model (34UM57-P) which had a cheap and lightweight plastic stand. it was mostly unregulated. This one has a metal core, is fully adjustable and doesn't let the panel rock back and forth like the last one. So kudos to LG for listening to their customers and fixing this. Fairing Body: As far as I can tell, it's almost identical to the previous model. Still fully shiny (hence 4 stars) LG. STOP MAKE EVERYTHING GLOSSY! If you touch it and leave fingerprints on it and then try to erase it, it will be KING. The only improvement over the last model is that they include a plastic spacer that slides in between where you attach the plate to the stand for you to win. Glossy plastic does not scratch. Screen: The screen is pretty darn nice. This is a matte finish and the quality of the IPS panel, colors, contrast, brightness are all at a good level. I have no complaints about that. Black levels are very good if you make small adjustments. Menu: The menu is fantastic! A TON of adjustments for color and modes. Remarkable joystick-style controls with one button for easy navigation. 4 game modes always 2 clicks away so you can easily switch to them mid-game. Options/Features: I won't list them all, but the main ones are definitely FreeSync, game modes and REAL 75Hz. If you have an AMD graphics card, you're in business. I have an ASUS Strix R9 390X and FreeSync is a game changer. I will never go back to a standard monitor. It's hard to describe, you just have to see it. Enable it in the LG menu and enable it in the AMD Control Panel and that's it! It just works. Game modes include FPS Custom, FPS 1, FPS 2 and RTS/MMO modes. 3 preinstalled and one for customization. You can also overclock this monitor to 75Hz after enabling FreeSync. Or rather I should say that at this point there is an option to change it to 75Hz. I've read that people overclock it to 82Hz, but it's like a lottery. Some will, some won't, and you try at your own risk. I got it on Prime Day for less than $370. At this sub-$400 price point, this is a really good choice for a gaming monitor. I checked out that and the 28" ASUS 4K. I chose this for FreeSync and 75Hz. All in all it's really good value for money with a few flaws that end up being what it is, can be overlooked. I hope my review helps some of you on the fence :)
