KeepKey is a hardware wallet from the Swiss crypto team ShapeShift. It stands out from other hardware wallets because, in addition to security, it also places great emphasis on design.
To set a PIN, a random sequence of numbers from 1 to 9 appears on the KeepKey display. The numbers are then entered through the Chrome extension on the computer. To do this, you click the corresponding button with the mouse. Thus, malware on the computer cannot figure out the actual numbers as the structure of the hardware wallet is constantly changing.
The selected PIN-code can be confirmed by clicking the "Choose PIN" button. The PIN must be confirmed again to rule out errors. This time, of course, with a new arrangement of numbers on the wallet display.
If you want to send cryptocurrencies to your hardware wallet, you click the “Receive” button under the appropriate account and the wallet generates a public address. The address itself is displayed directly both in the software and on the display of the hardware wallet.
Fees are determined automatically and cannot be changed by your own software. A commission is paid to miners for mining each block and protecting the blockchain as a reward to keep the network operational. KeepKey, of course, doesn't get anything from commissions.
