Best Rack Tool

Great security tool. This isn't a cheap Chinese tool to worry about. Very easy to use and also time consuming. It's beautiful and portable, and doesn't take up space in a store. You can't lose with this tool.

Pros
  • Impact Wrench Fixed.
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Nice device, worth the money!

I was skeptical about this tool but once I figured it out it worked really well! I felt safe with a compressed spring. The only tricky part is putting the jaws on the spring and taking them off when you're done. But overall, replacing the rack with DYI was the easiest and safest way.

Pros
  • For spring diameters from 100 to 250mm
Cons
  • Weight

Suitable for straight springs

Not suitable for larger diameter elliptical springs with a beveled centre. I ended up with 2 old sets of a simple spring compressor. A heavy piece of equipment that will benefit from heavier light jams. Uses mass to bypass cheap metal jaws that are difficult to fit into springs to get enough compression.

Pros
  • MC Pherson Daily Workshop Spring Compressor
Cons
  • Expensive

Suitable for certain spring types

I was hoping to get a spring compressor that seemed a little more secure than a traditional screw and hanger, it actually ticks all the boxes. sprung springs (where the spacing between coils is small) is problematic. Springs with a few widely spaced coils are also a problem as they are not actually connected to the spring cylinder or seat and under these circumstances their compression capacity is limited. This is fine in areas where this works, but tends to result in a compressed spring on one

Pros
  • Approx. 300 mm working range.
Cons
  • Vulgarity
