Description of πŸ”§ High-Speed Straight Chucking Tool by Alvord Polk

Straight flute reamers are recommended for general purpose reaming to make minor enlargements to existing holes with a very precise size and roundness. Straight flute reamers are good for use in through or blind holes without interruptions such as keyways (through holes extend through the entire workpiece, while blind holes do not). Round shank tools are cylindrical and should be held in a good-quality toolholder in order to prevent the reamer from slipping in high torque applications, which can cause tool freeze, loss of accuracy, and tool damage. Uncoated (bright) tools have no finish or coating. They are a good choice for general purpose applications. High-speed steel is a common general purpose steel for cutting tools, is compatible with a variety of materials, and tends to be lower in price than cobalt steel or carbide.

Good quality reamer at a reasonable price

This is a good quality reamer at a reasonable price. I bought it because it's perfect for drilling holes for a 12mm shaft. I've used it on a lot of holes and it's still sharp and cuts well.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Disappear

I have used 25-30 of these reamers and support this product. Whether you are cutting mild steel, cold rolled or hot rolled tool steel, or even very low carbon stainless steel. They work well and I'm very happy with the price compared to MSC or Grainger.

Pros
  • Best in my niche

This is a good quality tool.

I bought this to install very small bearings that are pressed into diameter. I am very happy with its quality. It is very sharp and fits snugly in the hole, making a good hole. I only gave it 4 stars because I ordered .4705" and received .4700". The box it came in was numbered .4705, but the number .4700 is engraved on the instrument itself. Half a thousandth may seem like a nitpick, but for a small bearing interference fit, it's important.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion
