Installation is easy on the 96 Tahoe but the speedometer easily cuts out at 60 mph. Up to 10. Maybe different sensors for different speedometers. I just ordered based on my 4WD model. I think you'd better do a little research.

I'm not a mechanic but this was an easy fix. After figuring out what sensor I need. The VSS is different for 2WD and 4WD, this is for 4WD and is located on the rear of the transfer case for easy access. It works with both 4L60E and 4L80E gearboxes.

This original equipment style VSS replacement sensor was easy to replace and worked perfectly. A 1 inch wrench or deep socket will work with a hex. This fixed the ABS light, the speedometer was not working and the gear shift was incorrect (it shifted to second gear but not higher). All issues have been resolved. I highly recommend this sensor. This item will not fit a 1999 Yukon! Buy Large Black Plastic OEM Replacement Parts! I learned this the hard way after a hard delete. I found the part didn't fit and tried to reinstall the old one. It was damaged during removal and now my car no longer works. I will go to the auto parts store to find the correct part. Very very frustrating.

I used this to replace the AC sensor 12215001 on my 2000 Chevy S-10 4X4 with 5 speed manual transmission. Was very easy to install. Fits on the side of the transfer case. If you have a 1" open-end wrench you can do it yourself without even lifting the car. Remove the old sensor. Replace it with this one and you're done! Significantly cheaper than an OEM part. The guarantee is 1 year.
