Excellent headset except for the volume control

The sound is pretty good and the headset did what I wanted it to do. for some time. a headset with good sound so I can hear my games and music well, as well as hear my surroundings. I also wanted large ear pads to avoid earaches for long periods of time. This headset has it all, right from the start. The standard ear pads are good, but if you want less ambient noise or more room around your ears, you can simply replace them with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T7W2Q15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_searchโ€ฆ

Design issues cause serious crosstalk with boom mic

Headphones come with two types of mics. External microphone and built-in microphone in the form of headphones. There's an annoying design issue with the wiring of the boom mic that causes audio to bleed from the headphones to the side of the mic, which is annoying as the mic itself is pretty good. When your headphones' built-in volume control is set to either total silence or maximum volume, there is significant crosstalk from the microphone side, causing other participants to hear themselvesโ€ฆ

Not worth the money.

What a disappointment. For the list price of $120 I was expecting a much nicer headset. Of course I paid $90, I was expecting a significant improvement over my Logitech G Pro (not G Pro X) headset. - high-pitched rumble with strong cracking. Rust in Modern Warfare was particularly annoying. The only focus was on high and mid frequencies. There is almost no bass. I don't like a lot of bass, but I want it to be there. - The sound stage was bad. I have an Astro TR Mixamp and I still can't find aโ€ฆ

Audiophiles should pass this one up

As the proud and longtime owner of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x (wired), I am delighted with the quality of this headset. However, I needed a headset (i.e. a microphone) for work conferences. My requirements for a headset would be the same sound quality as the ATH-M50x (because when I'm not in conferences I'm listening to music), similar build quality, and the right price point. I saw the ATH-PG1 and it turned out to be a good candidate, so I bought it. One thing I always check before buying any

Avoid. The cable of the microphone arm sucks. Read below.

Tl;dr:1) The microphone cable will die within the lifespan of the headphones. The weak point lies in the built-in sound/volume switch, which is already poorly made. 2) Headphones are uncomfortable without buying new thicker ear pads. Hard plastic presses against your ears to the point of pain. 3) The mute switch cannot be used without streaming the content of what you are listening to to your Discord/TS/VOIP friends. I suspect it's an escape issue, but I'm no expert. 4) The sound quality isโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Ok, but...

Everything ok. "Premium" is a marketing ploy. Don't expect an ATH-M50 (or even an M40) plus mic at this price point. They appear to be based on the ATH-PRO5 DJ headphones, both in basic design and driver size (44mm vs. 45mm on the M50, 40mm on the M40). Keep in mind that these are closed-back PG1 models and open-back PDG1 models with 40mm drivers. They are very comfortable even if you wear glasses. I had them replace a pair of Plantronics Rig 500 Pros that were broken. I found that in the under

Pros

I bought the ATH-PG1 kit to replace my Sennheiser GAME ONE headset which has several serious design flaws. . I've used Audio-Technica hardware in the past (including headsets!) and was impressed, so the number of serious issues the ATH-PG1 had was a bit shocking to me, especially when marketed as 'gaming' Headphones". .Negatives:1. Lots of crosstalk between headset and mic (which means the mic picks up what you hear). This has nothing to do with the sound coming from the cans themselves, moreโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

If you want to buy a gaming headset. Most people choose well-known "gamingโ€ brands like Steelseries, Razer and ASTRO. But all headsets from these "gaming" brands have their drawbacks. Some have great sound but terrible mics. Some look great, but wearing them is unbearable. And some even have awesome side lights so you can show off your favorite colors that you don't even see when you put them on. With this headset, the Audio Technica ATH-PG1, they don't compromise and offer you the best bangโ€ฆ
