Gauge Set takes the guesswork out of using eyepads. I have yet to remove the wheels because there isn't enough room in my mesh wheels and I'm hand inserting this as well to get that into the caliper. They are of fairly good quality, made from stamped sheet steel and powder coated. The color coding (green is good, red is bad, amber is maybe) is a nice touch. But the thing is, you probably don't need them.
