Of the thicker paper plates, these are more common. They hold soaked foods fairly well and you can cut on them. Attempting to microwave cold food for too long will get them soggy at the bottom, but other than that they work just fine. The ones I received are about 0.02 inches thick. I think it always comes down to the price you are willing to pay for a plate.

I got very interested in these when I saw that they were made from sugar cane bagasse. Have tested (and loved) cling wrap made from this material before and hoped these plates would be just as good. you are good food sits. No bad smell! They're not skinny and should hold a decent amount of food, though. I would still recommend doubling for heavy meat or crowded plates. I don't feel like they are thicker than regular paper plates. The value depends on how important the use of recycled materials…
