Does a lot more than just turning it on and off

Works great with HomeKit and tracks energy use with its own app. I wanted to see how much power my CPAP draws depending on the settings and attachments used. Since I am planning to buy a camping and power backup battery, I was able to easily track this data. In December I used it with my Christmas tree. I scheduled the tree to turn on and off at sunset and at a specific time. I liked that I could just ask Siri to turn on the tree. (called wood). I've used it for other purposes and unlike some…

MUST HAVE for your wireless router!

I bought 3 of these because they work so well and use them with my wireless routers in my house. Since they are controlled via Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi, you can reboot Wi-Fi routers right from your phone! *As long as you are home and within range* Unless you have a huge house, the range is more than adequate for most people around 75 feet in my experience. You can also schedule them however you like and do NOT have to be on schedule to work. I set my wifi routers to turn off at 6:30am for 1…

  • Definitely a bad product

A great device for the long term, but difficult to set up with my Apple iPad. I followed the instructions that appeared to set up the device with ease. Then after 5 minutes it disappeared from the Apple Homekit app and from the Eve app. I restarted my iPad and had to hard reset Eve Energy. The hard reset worked, but the instructions weren't very clear on how to do it. Basically, power off/on the device and hold the button with the LED pressed (about 20 seconds!) until the LED starts flashing…

Mid-range performance/features at a premium price.

This is a feature-rich smart outlet that does what it's designed to do with minimal effort. It's very well built and easy to pair with HomeKit. It uses Bluetooth to connect to HomeKit, which is both good and bad. Response time from the moment a verbal/physical command is given to press the button to turn on the switch from the phone can take 2 to 9 seconds. It's not as instantaneous as Wi-Fi equivalents. However, Bluetooth connections have their advantages. For example, I have an Orbi router…

Best Smart Switch for HomeKit

I have two of these smart switches. I used to have another smart switch and finally got it back by trying one of these (I liked it so much I bought a second one). Other switches had a different delay when turning on or off, Eve Smart Switch activates almost instantly. Advantages: 1. No hub required. If you've read any of my other HomeKit reviews, you know I'm a huge fan of hubs. You don't need a hub or anything like that. Just plug it in and set it up.2. Quick and efficient setup via the Eve…

Update: Still. One day it works and then not again.

After I bought my new 5th Gen Apple TV, I bought several of these Elgato Energy Ever Wi-Fi outlets to add Elgato Energy Eve features like detecting when you come home to devices like Turn on lights to use. The problem is that it's the second one that can't keep the wifi connection. I wake up in the morning and find a light that has never gone out because the outlet has failed. I tried doing a power reset but that temporarily fixed the problem for a few minutes. The Eve app says the outlet is…

Ideal for energy monitoring!

Well, first off, this device was a fairly expensive way of finding out that our teen watches TV after bedtime, which explains the constant tiredness. I hated resorting to this but problem solved! The installation itself is very easy if you have Apple products and are using Homekit. Download the Eve app for Homekit (the instructions are a bit outdated and may indicate the outdated Eve app for iOS), enter the 8-digit code that's on the product and you're done. The app is similar to the Apple Home

Tried iDevices, WeMo and Elgato and Elgato prevailed.

So far I like the Elgato Eve Energy Switch & Power. I've been looking for a HomeKit enabled home switch for a while and have tried iDevices and WeMo switches. Here's a rundown of what I think of each iDevices Switch - it's an overall good product and has (in my opinion) the cleanest and most modern design of them all. It has a nice night light feature that you can turn on or off separately from what you're turning on. However, setting up the app is more difficult and the product kept losing…

Mediocre at best, even before it stopped working

As long as they worked they were fine - maybe three stars. The Eve app itself is relatively fun, especially compared to some incredibly poorly made apps from Eve's competitors, as well as HomeKit apps in general (Apple doesn't help either with their clunky and poorly designed default Home app). Not only do these devices rely on Bluetooth, which can be inherently unreliable, but they are notably unreliable even by Bluetooth accessory standards. This applies to all Eve HomeKit accessories (I have
