I installed bookshelves in my living room that I wanted to turn into an entertainment system. They are perfect for running cables to adjacent shelves and look fantastic. I had no problem keeping the two pieces together and they actually fit quite well. The 2-1/2" opening is large enough for power cords, speaker wire, and A/V cables. I had to cut a hole in my linen closet to run a cold water line to my dryer (with steam function). I didn't want to run the house over the central sink/closet and wanted to do a professional looking job and get under it. I was looking for a clean looking bushing and this one fit the bill. Make sure you have a 2 1/2 inch hole saw and when creating the hole try to cut through the cabinet with one shot. My original closet plan called for a shelf on the right and a TV opening on the other side of the vertical wall.
