I ordered this because I wanted to scrape algae from hard-to-reach places. I was able to scrape EVERYTHING that was stuck to the glass. The tank looks like new again. The razor is very thin and flexible so I'm sure it won't scratch the glass. Sand and rocks can scratch the glass, so be careful not to get caught between the scraper and the glass. I'm not sure how well a scraper will work with an acrylic tank as acrylic is much softer than glass and scratches more easily. Seller support helped me
