Description of Hautmec PL0030 Tub Drain Removal Wrench

Dual-sided wrench, use to install and remove most bath and shower drains and closet spuds. Use with an adjustable wrench for easy operation. Or use with screwdrivers inserted into one of two holes for the best torque, much easier. Heavy-duty die-cast aluminum, lightweight. Easy to use.

Works as advertised, easy to use

Saved me from hiring a plumber. Easy to use and seems well made. The metal is a bit soft so you'll see some marks if you use a couple of channel locks to turn it over, but I've used it 4 times to remove 4 badly stuck tub drains and it's worked every time. Would recommend this product.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Diameter of each end

Big end too big, small end too small. Because there is too much play on the small diameter side, the tool is not strong and difficult to tighten. So it's useless for now. The product information should list the diameter of each end so you can determine how well it fits the drain.

Pros
  • Rugged design

Did the job with no swear words!

I was very happy to have this sturdy tool for removing old tub drains. This tool was inexpensive and worked great. I could have paid more for something flimsy that didn't do the job. The tool was packaged very well and arrived almost immediately. You need this tool when you need to remove a drain.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Needed once

Very Niche tool but just what I need to take out the bathtub drain to replace the gasket. Nothing fancy but it was necessary as my drain doesn't have a crossbar so pliers wouldn't work. This tool is ideal for two small strips. It's all metal, so with occasional use it will likely last forever. Nice hole in the middle to work with a screwdriver for extra torque.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • A little wrinkled

It's not hollow so you can't put a hose through it.

I bought this to untie the water hose in the sink, the top of which is hard to see and reach. But when I received this tool I found that it is solid which makes it impossible to thread the pipe through it so there is no point in loosening or tightening the nut that attaches the pipe to the sink faucet. Later I had to buy a wrench for this purpose.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Crumpled

Too Big Too Small on Wrenches

Couldn't remove my 1987 Delta bath drain that apparently will never come out. It wouldn't matter if someone stole my wrenches (and mallet) or not. The tool had too much clearance on the smaller end and overtook the drain on the larger end. Based on my no longer limited experience as a DYI plumber (plumbers no longer worry about coming to reviews) I can say this is a quality, well made tool. He's also a good weight and if he was suitable he would have done his job. It arrived quickly, protected…

Pros
  • Fun
Cons
  • Little Stuff
