Good value for money and delivered very quickly.

With a pre-drilled 1/8" pilot hole, this product works very, very well. Teeth last a long time and cut quickly. Without a pilot hole, the drill bit wanders and can break the cutting teeth. I have both cordless and cordless drills used corded drills and they all worked reasonably well.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Slightly creased

OK, but with limitations.

This tool does what it's supposed to do, but it has its limitations. If a spot weld can be machined at a 90 degree angle (perpendicular to the weld) and the center is punched deep enough, the blades will cut through the weld. However, if the angle is off-center by 10 degrees, the blades and tool will move, causing the blade to break or cut in the wrong place. Curves and sharp bends where it usually occurs.

Does the job at a good price

I think it's ok. I cut some welds and they get the job done. I have never used this type of tool before and have tried various methods to separate old spot welds. I've seen people on auto restoration TV shows use something like this so I thought I'd give it a try. You have to be careful not to go too deep. And I suspect that soon one of them will break. Obviously these bits don't last forever so a few spare bits are included in the kit.

Works great and will withstand many spot welds.

Bought two sets of these. I cut out the spot welds to remove the headlight shells and core support from the project vehicle. I ended up using just one nozzle for over 40 spot welds. I would have gone through the whole thing on one page if I hadn't slipped and pulled the drill trigger, which broke a few teeth. Now I have a complete set that is completely unused as well as another set that is almost complete for future projects. If you pay attention to your drilling speed, you will be able toโ€ฆ

Poor packaging suitable for welders and accessories

***Update***After seeing my first review, I was contacted by KCC Industries who apologized for the poor delivery and sent me an immediate reply new provided kit.C I've been using this tool ever since and couldn't be happier. It works better than advertised. I thought I was going to have to drill a few holes and then swap out bits, but found one bit that worked over and over again - 35 holes that drilled into the tailgate of my '46 CJ2a with no problem. Item received in a box. no visible damage,

good cutter for welding equipment and accessories

Cuts very well. With one side of the torch I was able to cut about 80 spot welds. Nice aggressive haircut. It is important to keep the drill bit speed low for best results and to prolong cutter life. They are fragile, so you should hold them as perpendicular to the surface as possible. If he gets caught, his teeth will break. A nice feature is a blade on the opposite end so you can detach it and flip it over to use. Luckily they also sent some replacement cutters because I ended up breaking myโ€ฆ

For a novice spot welder like me, here's what I found.

For a beginner spot welder like myself, I find this to be effective with this tool: First, punch the pin where you want the pin to be centered. It's very important that Harbor Freight's sprung punches work great here. Second, align the tool and make sure the cutting ring is touching the part on opposite sides - if you enter at an angle too quickly, the tool will move off center. Practice driving the torch into the weld with the drill off. Third, enter very carefully to make the drill rotate atโ€ฆ

Works as advertised

This spot welding torch operates as advertised. Makes clean cuts with careful use. It is important to make a deep hole with a center punch. It is also important to use a variable speed drill. I have found that if you place the center of the quill in the center punch hole, leave the center of the quill in the hole and slowly start drilling with no tooth contact. Then very slowly increase the pressure on the drill bit until the teeth meet. Once the router has made a shallow hole, you can speed up

That works great! on Welders & Accessories

This is my first purchase and my first attempt at using a spot welding torch. It took several trials/attempts to determine the best technique for using this tool. I found that 1) punching the notch down the center in a spot weld is not enough, the center pin of the router will slip out of the notch. Center the spot weld, then use a 1/8-inch drill bit to drill through the panel to the depth of the panel thickness. This provides a good place for the center pin. 2) I found faster drill speed withโ€ฆ
