I didn't think water would impress me so much

I have drunk filtered water and pur and brita my whole life. Well this time around I've decided to replace a broken clunky razor I bought a few years ago and see if there's anything better. I'd known about the Lifestraw straw filter for a long time, so I was intrigued that they made a jug. I was certainly hesitant with this coal tar review, but I believe the answers they gave to the questions removed anything harmful. They are very committed to their clean water mission so I don't think they…

Pros
  • Retains important minerals and enhances taste. Life Straw home filters remove unwanted contaminants from water while retaining important minerals such as magnesium, potassium, carbon and sodium that are good for your health.
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

The filter membrane stopped working after 2 months

I wanted a Berkey alternative that was easier to use. And the Lifestraw water jug is the closest thing to truly purified water. I like the look of the jug but the wide body makes it awkward to put in the fridge. But I decided to deal with it. The filters worked perfectly for the first few months. Then I left for 30 days. I have read the manual which says the filters are fine up to 2 months of non-use. I washed and dried the jug and let the filters dry. When I came back I found that the water…

Pros
  • Smart and ECO-FRIENDLY design. The elegant jug is made of durable, BPA-free plastic and comes with a practical lid. The jug holds 7 cups (about 3 refills) of refreshing clean water and fits most fridge doors.
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

The front is more expensive, but it's worth it

This household water filter jug is more expensive than most, but cheaper and easier to use. Tired of the filtration issues we face with the cheaper but expensive Zero Water system, we decided to try the much newer Lifestraw jug. We were impressed with the much lower cost and much higher value of the filter! Skeptical, I decided to try the 10 cup jug that Revain was selling at a reduced price. We have been using it for almost 2 months now and are very satisfied! The main filter (big, long)…

Pros
  • Next Level Protection. Life Straw Home is the only water filter pitcher that protects against bacteria, parasites, microplastics, heavy metals like lead, mercury, chromium III, cadmium, PFA, chlorine and organic chemicals like pesticides.
Cons
  • Long Wait

Update: Still like it more than I thought

Update: I took a pitcher of straw to a cabin in northern Pennsylvania where our water quality has deteriorated since fracking came to the area. I think it's pretty clear from my photo how great this filter is. On the left a glass of water straight from the tap (untreated well water). The glass is on the right after you pass the Lifestraw glass. Crystal clear and delicious, like pure water that has passed through this filter. Even through the filter, water flowed quickly no matter how dirty it…

Pros
  • Long filter life. Life Straw membrane microfilter life is 264 gallons, approximately 1 year. The Life Straw filter with activated carbon and ion exchange filter is rated for 40 gallons, approximately 2 months.
