Works better on 8mm than Super 8mm

Frame by frame converts fine as I wanted. For some reason regular 8mm is better than super 8mm. A larger screen would be nice, as it's not always easy to adjust the bezel and other resolution and brightness controls. It would be a plus if it had a temporary storage option so that if an interruption occurs and a connection is needed the movie can be played back and the end result is just one file. It would also be helpful if it had an outlet to connect to the big screen when converting so…

Works as advertised.

There are several 8mm digital scanners on the market and it was a good price. I have to run thousands of meters and so far this has worked pretty well. The quality of digital video largely depends on the quality of the old film. There are adjustments for exposure and framing. On some standard 8mm film, a scan line enters the field of view between frames. You have to stop it, go to the menu and change the frame, you can see it when you adjust it. If the exposure looks too dark or too light, you…

Works fine if you remove the errors

The device arrived in good condition and well packaged. The first thing I noticed was that the instructions are a bit sparse. You end up guessing a few things - like whether the fast forward is under a hatch or overhead (I didn't try it from below and it worked fine from above). I had some issues with the double spool stopping for me so I replaced the plastic spool that came with it with the metal spool I had laying around and the problem got a lot better, but it still stopped when the…

I'm sending it back - didn't use up a roll of film and failed

After reading all the reviews which turned out to be pretty good I decided to buy this scanner. I have 4000ft of Super 8 film that I want to convert. first I will give my impression of the characteristics; It's advertised as having multiple settings for exposure, brightness, and frame alignment, which is true, but you can't make those settings before you start scanning. You have to do a test run, remove the SD card and play it on a PC or something and make adjustments, rescan and reproduce to…

Pros
  • Slide and negative scanner
Cons
  • High price

Overall - I was very pleased with the quality of the product. Basically, what is described is what you get. It takes a little patience until the first drums get the hang of it. Especially part of the frame customization process. The device makes setup pretty easy for you, but that's just the way the film has to be fed through the scanner. Since you're actually watching decades-old film that can break, etc., you'll find that after about 20 frames, that's not the case when you think the alignment
