Buyer warning! Marine Electronics

I purchased this card new and sealed from this seller. Turns out this card was registered 2 1/2 months prior to my purchase. When I tried to download the sonar maps, all data was erased from the chip. Thanks to Revain I was able to return this card immediately. ATTENTION, BUYER!

Pros
  • Cool Product
Cons
  • Negative Gift

The maps are ok but not very detailed or accurate.

The maps have very little detail, I actually see more detail on the free app maps than on the map itself. It doesn't even show many of the channel markers with the map that show with the app. And many structures differ almost 1/4 mile from the charts to actual location. It's better than nothing, but not much.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Doubtful

Disappointing. Sea detail is terrible for fishing.

I bought this table because it was better organized. That's all I wanted. Coastal stuff is great, great detail, buoys etc but anything beyond 3 miles is terrible. I have to switch to factory maps to get my 1000ft and 1500ft lines. I am so disappointed with the new setup that I will probably sell this kit and reinstall my old chartplotter - either my standard Horizon 350 or Garmin 541S.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Does not fit all

Be careful with marine GPS chartplotters

I bought a Navionics + chart. Went to their website to register the card and make sure I have the latest updates. The map failed to update, so I chatted with one of their agents. After giving them the information on the front of the card, they told me that the card was originally purchased with stolen credit card details, so they blacklisted the card on 05/09/2019. I received the card today (07/09/2019) in a sealed box marked "New". Unreal.

The chip works as advertised!

Works great with my Humminbird 899. Just download the software and lakes you need and put them in the fish finder. Make sure you "lock" the Navionics chip if you have 2 slots and your sonar is burning. It's a bit pricey, but worth it for being able to download from anywhere in the US and Canada. I would definitely recommend this product to any angler wanting to learn the depth and contours of your favorite lake. You can also check their website to see if your lake is on their list and whether…

Pros
  • Ability to update maps via PC
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I bought this product for a Humminbird Helix 7 sonar, as it covers all of North America I think it's a very good deal is. I fish from Wisconsin to Alabama and my other Humminbird 587 only has a Southern chip and costs more. This chip came with one year of free updates, just plug the micro SD into the SD adapter and then into your computer. Go to the Navionics website and update; dead easy. I have found the depths to be accurate considering the difference in lake levels.

Pros
  • Adding sonar data and community changes
Cons
  • Some small things

Not the best product for serious cruisers.

This product is a waste of time and money. Unless you have an older product that supports cards up to 2GB, don't buy it. This is proving to be a real limitation as the new MFPs can address up to 32GB of memory. That's a huge difference. With the 2GB limit, it's not possible to download enough maps to get from Seattle to Southeast Alaska if you need sonar maps, which is an obvious desire. Also, the download speed is pathetically slow. It takes more than 5 hours to fill the map with charts and…

Pros
  • Includes detailed maps for the selected region
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
