Nordicware Freeze Heat Serve Bacon Review

Ph. My microwave is 14 inches deep and this pan is too big to turn on the turntable so the bacon doesn't cook evenly. Why isn't there a bacon pan for 14 inch deep microwaves? This size is very common. Yes. So frustrating!

Very light/weak construction. A corner has broken off on one side and a large tear on the other. all within two months. Unsuitable for use as the lubricant is running low and further failures are to be expected. The stand has not been dropped or abused. Never put in the oven. only use in the microwave.

Upgrading the rating from 1 to 3 stars. My first review complains that it's too small. It's actually deceptively small compared to the picture, but the dimensions are right, so it's really my fault. Before cooking, the bacon will hang about an inch from the edges on each side. After cooking, the bacon will shrink. I got 6 pieces. So that worked fine, but there should probably be more.

I have one of these and love it so much I'm buying it as a gift. Yes, you can microwave bacon on paper towels or a plate, but this handy baking sheet protects the bacon from fat that drips off the bacon (or sausage) as it cooks. When I'm done, I put it in the bin (with a bag, of course) and let the drips drain for a while. Then simply clean with a sponge or put in the dishwasher. We love it so much we have it in our RV too!

With my old NordicWare microwave pan (about 35 years old) the bacon will still hang, but just a little bit. Halve the bacon with this new "compact bowl". I used to have a bacon rack that I used for years. It was starting to see better days so I bought this one. I did the usual thing of putting the bacon in the microwave and then setting it on the table to cool while I finished the rest of the meal. I bought this product mainly for bacon but will try it with fish fillets and veggie burgers. The bacon I cooked came out great, but doesn't "brown" like an iron skillet, but this makes a batch of bacon (4 pieces) quick and easy with little fuss and easy cleanup. I use paper towels on the bacon to avoid splattering, and they absorb some of the fat as well. I'll try fish fillets and sticks. I don't think the plastic gets overstressed when cooking on low heat. My husband uses this tray almost every day. We soak it in hot soapy water and rub it with a cleaning sponge. It gets hot with use but doesn't stay hot for long. It's the perfect size for a microwave and will process 4 slices of bacon at a time. For some reason the corners crack over time, this has happened to every tablet of this brand that we have had. I love this little microwave tray. It's great for reheating anything crispy in the microwave that might otherwise get a little wet on the bottom. This tray keeps everything elevated, allowing energy to circulate around the object being cooked or heated. Obviously it's for bacon and I found a way to quickly cook and peel bacon.
