This works for pipes and tubes but is completely useless in open areas. I was trying to run a wire from the bow of my 16 foot boat to midships. We're talking about 8 feet. Useless! Worked great for pulling 10/2 wires (for a 30Amp line) to add a new device. It worked for me in three scenarios: running the cable through the wall between other wires, running it through a hole further up the outside wall of the house, and running the cable through a 1/2-inch liquid-tight conduit. This tool is indispensable. The only thing that could be improved is a more detailed instruction manual, although you could understand it from some photos.
