The small size and the perforated lid protect against odor and pests.

We recently launched a pilot food waste collection program in our area. I wasn't sure if I'd go along with it, so I ordered this small version to see if I could force myself to save leftovers. The handy size and unobtrusive design make it perfect for my desktop and I use it pretty much every day. After reading the reviews I was concerned about smells and bugs. The perforated lid keeps food waste from getting too wet and doesn't seem to let odors escape or bugs in. I try to take the bags out of…

The best compost bin in the kitchen!

I used to have one like this, but when I moved it stayed where it was. I then bought a nice stainless steel bucket because it looked classier (and we all know compost should look classy!). Yes, a little decomposed then; but even with the lid closed for the new additives, the smell was rather faint. I didn't use any bags and I don't see a need for them because the container is easy to clean and there was no residual odor. (I use lemon ammonia to…

Pretty useful for cat litter

I don't use this for compost but for cat litter. I only have one cat, but he quickly throws the kitty litter away, so in the past putting the litter in the bin because of the smell very often meant taking the garbage out. The smell doesn't permeate this bin that much, which means I only have to take the bin out once a week at most! There are small holes in the top of the container so the smell can still come out that way, but if you don't want that you can probably just tape the holes over. The
