I have a couple of cheap hex sets and the real bit is held in the drive nut with a set screw. These set screws never get the job done and require you to find another tool to fix the first tool so you can do what you originally started. These bits are held firmly in the sockets of the drive. I'm expecting a press fit or heatset but however it's done they seem really strong.
