Simple, worked great. Only problem is no IFTT support

I used it to control a light connected to my SmartThings hub. I set it up in minutes with no problems. The only limitation I encountered is that the button is NOT supported by IFTT. I called Samsung to ask. I expect support to come. If you try to create an IFFT rule, the button will NOT be listed under any of the triggers. To launch IFFT with a button you need to use this workaround: 1) Create a virtual button in the old SmartThings app or SmartThings Groovy IDE on the web. 2) Use SmartLighting

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Versatile and easy to use

I needed a physical device to turn the flashing camera and Zigbee door and window sensors on and off at the same time. The door and window sensors I have connect to my SmartThings hub, as does the button, but the flashing camera doesn't - it has its own app but is accessed via ifttt. In the SmartThings web app, I created a simulated switch (that was sort of the heart). In the smartThings mobile app, I have linked the sim switch to enable the sensors on power on and disable the sensors on powerโ€ฆ

High quality button

09/03/2018: 5 stars for now, will update as needed. This pair is easy and doesn't require me to be near the center. The keys feel comfortable; light press and good tactile feedback. Tap, double tap and hold are easy to activate. You don't need automation for this because you can assign actions directly to a device. BUT, you may find this useful when you need maximum flexibility. I wanted a push to turn the light on or off - a toggle switch. This particular lamp is connected to a smart Zigbeeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Good but not great

Unreliable hub and controller Item

I have multiple SmartThings buttons and one of them seems to be "unavailable" after a day until I physically remove and reinsert the battery. To compound the problem, the buttons are glued to the wall with a strong adhesive. The last time I had to reset one of the devices, I ripped a bunch of paint off the wall. And then because the glue was covered in paint and didn't work, I had to find a new glue. These things are great when they work, but my faith in them has been eroded. Also, my hub andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Issues

I've had a SmartThings hub for a few years and am slowly adding more and more smart lighting to my home. The problem has always been that with many lights, there was no reliable way to reliably replace the wall switch. This often resulted in me fumbling with my phone or yelling at Alexa in a dark room, trying to remember the correct way to turn on the lights. Preset graphics work for some things, motion detection is useful for others, but sometimes all you need is a switch to turn on the light.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • No

Button: Very comfortable (with 2 year update)

(Below is my original review. See 2 year update below) To be clear, this review is for the Samsung SmartThings button and nothing else. I connected it to my Home Assistant Pi3 (hassio) a little over 2 months ago. Works perfectly, battery not changed yet. I even bought a second one. I don't know if it should also report battery readings and maybe my setup just doesn't read it, but it doesn't bother me at all (update: it works now). It turns on about every hour to check the temperature and sendโ€ฆ

  • Not the best

Don't waste your money and time

I'm a fan of smart home. I recently returned you Samsung SmartThings. I had a first generation hub, which I thought was a disaster. So I recently bought a 3rd gen SmartThings hub. The UI has changed so I decided to try again. For this button I use Philips Hue Touch. and i figured instead of paying that 40 bucks for another tab i would buy a pair of these. It's pretty easy to set up. You click the buttons to add devices. You scan the QR code with your mobile phone. And the rest is taken care of.

Pros
  • Nice to use
