The product is excellent. Documentation takes work.

I have bought several of these picks and they have worked well. I paired it with a 3.5 inch TFT LCD and it's a great device for makers. Instructions can be found here: bit dot ly/2O3fPFF

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Switch settings for using an external power supply and no USB cable

A useful tidbit I learned through trial and error: If you want to use this board with an external power supply without connecting it to the USB port, you must set DIP switches 1 and 2 to ON and DIP switches 3 to 7 to OFF.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Secret

No Instructions - Single Board Computer

came in the form of a bare board with no instructions. It has a mode switch, 8 toggle switches and a 3 position switch with no indication of what they do. It's said to have Wi-Fi, but there are no instructions on how to use it. Does anyone know how to use the advanced features of this board? and the usb cable is only 20"

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • boring packaging

At first it worked like a mega, then it stopped. Never seen WiFi

Left switch is on, right switch is off. The top switch is zero, not 1, and is held in the correct position. First we managed to get it working as a Mega, then it stopped communicating over the serial port. Now I can't download to USB. Could not find the network.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Older model

All information on the web is based on tools and code that Espressif no longer maintains. I couldn't get it to work using AT commands - and there's no information anywhere on how to properly flash any part of the ESP8266 using modern SDKs (is it 32MB? 32MB-C? What locations? There's no documentation that this supports boarding anywhere).

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

DO NOT BUY products for single board computers

I've been using the Mega 2560 for a few years now. I have this one with WIFI and it doesn't program. Keep getting a timeout message. Search the internet and you'll find many, many issues reported with the same board. Just fix it to change the capacitor on the board or press the reset button until you get lucky. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY. MY MISTAKE LEAVING RULE NUMBER 1 NEVER BUY ANYTHING ON AMAZON WITHOUT AT LEAST A 60% FIVE STAR RATING.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Long delivery time

It finally works Computers & Accessories

It took me hours of reading and research to get it working. I would make another start if the seller included the documentation and that the ESP8266 comes with updated software. I had to update the AT version to make it work and most online examples I found use Serial1 (pins 18 and 19), the board hardware comes for Serial 3 (pins 14 and 15), switch 1 and switch 2 should be set to the correct potion, it was awful figuring all this out without documentation but I got it working.

Pros
  • Great Variety
Cons
  • Null

Works as advertised. I had no problem uploading to esp8266 or Arduino Mega. I also had no problem passing serial number from esp6266 to Arduino. When sending a serial number from the esp8266 to the Arduino, switches 1 and 2 must be on. The sw switch also selects where you send the serial number from the esp8266 to either serial number 0 or serial number 3 on the Arduino. If you choose serial number 0, make sure dip switches 3 and 4 are off as this will conflict with the onboard UART. Not sure…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Weight
