Mild steel is the best in valve train tools

Not the best quality, the metal is soft and won't last long. It was possible to make 10 out of 16 springs before the deformation as the spring compressed began causing the plate to bend and sag.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Look carefully at the picture before using instructions.

You may use instructions which can be confusing. Threads wear out quickly and break easily. The top metal plate begins to bend. Managed to get the job done with the tool.

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • Generally good, but...

Works but tool loosens screws

Screws started loosening after running on the second head. I would buy grade 8 bolts to retrofit. Also doesn't sit flush so goalies can easily get in and out. If you're going to do a lot of head work, I'd invest in a more expensive one.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Has problems

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Of course it worked as advertised.

Works as advertised but the tool bottoms out before the valve spring fully releases the detents. Very frustrating. The supplied washers are not hardened, so they will be bent and deformed after the heads are installed. I assume the tool was made incorrectly. Back late. At least it was cheap. i get what i pay for

Get what you pay for.

Maybe it's just my heads (LS1 241) but this one didn't tighten enough to release the detents to remove the springs. It only allows about 1/4 inch before it touches the head and cannot be compressed any further. In hindsight, to save time and hassle, I had to pay extra money for a brand that you know works.

Pros
  • Excellent overall specs
Cons
  • Cleanliness

It will work.

I like that it's about half the price of a name brand tool, but as the saying goes, it doesn't take long to figure out why. I'll say it can be used, but you'll spend more time getting everything lined up correctly so the springs compress evenly. It likes to move the springs when you tighten and loosen the screw, and one of my valves is stuck in the black hole that is my engine bay. It works out? Of course you can if you need it. That being said, I bought another one that covers the entire pen…

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Something different
