Good product! Best in External Components

I've had this product for a while, it was just great! I needed this for my netbook and it worked beautifully. The only problem was that when I first plugged it into my USB port and pressed the button to open, it didn't open right away and I thought it was broken, but in fact my computer just recognized the new hardware and did not want it . leave it open until it's scanned and so on. All in all it's a great product, I've watched countless DVDs and removed many CDs from them. This is a wonderful

Lucky find, regionless

I bought this item about a year ago and while I don't really like the two cables and the way they are routed horizontally from the connectors to each other, I know them enabled DVD player doesn't need an external power supply and I thought ok it does its job, no problem. So far I recently discovered that the player region is free! What a lucky find! Now I can play European or Asian PAL DVDs in addition to any American NTSC without additional software and without buying another expensive…

cool Computer Parts

Just what I need at an amazing price. Targis looks and works like new. I tested it on my new Acer Aspire One (Linux OS for short) and on my new Eee PC 1000 (XP Home OS). It's like Targus was made for those little Wi-Fi/camera built-in computers. Now I can easily install programs, watch DVDs, save data to CDs, listen to music on CDs, and view photos saved on CDs anywhere. And when I don't need an optical drive, like going to a coffee shop or a hotspot library, I just leave it at home and travel…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Will be added later

In today's "newer" PCs, floppy disk drives have been phased out and replaced with higher capacity optical (CD-ROM) drives. This can save space (H/W) on a PC, but many of us "old hands" use and still prefer economical floppy disks. I still use and sometimes prefer floppy disks. Thank you for providing this external floppy drive, which has met my expectations.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Expensive

Perfect for what I need!

My DVD drive stopped working after loading Windows SP3. I spent hours on the internet with an "expert" from Microsoft trying to fix the problem. My time is worth more, so I invested and bought a Targus DVD/CD-ROM drive. I plugged it into a USB port and it was ready to go! I read one of the other reviews on Revain (one star rating) that said the tablet was thin. The tray on my internal drive is also weak so I thought how bad could that be? To my surprise, this product is well made and appears to

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose

Max read speed 55 KB/sec, also reads 720 KB disks

This is a review of the PA905U external drive. That works great. Everything in Windows 7 was plug and play. It just worked as soon as I plugged it in. The same in Ubuntu! I've cycled through about 80 disks and copied files and image backups with dd. The maximum read speed with dd was about 55 KB/s. From what I can find online, this is about what the old 3.5" internal floppy drives shipped. Copying files from DOS slowed things down to 25kb - typically 40kb/s. This thing reads 720K disks as…
