Everything a beginner needs to get started.

Everything a beginner needs to get started with simple woodworking projects. The set is extensive and you can open it and get started right away. The only thing I need to buy is a pair of smooth (i.e. no teeth) needle nose pliers because I don't have any. I had fun playing around with the tool and a few tips, and I didn't even do a formal project, I was just testing it. It gets very hot and burns well. I still have to play a bit to understand how to apply pressure and how to move it. I look…

Heats up fast, gets really hot

This 25 watt Weller recording kit is a lot bigger than the one I had as a kid. It heats up quickly and takes time to cool down completely. The kit was difficult to open as for transport two sides are covered with a plastic pin which had to be picked to open. The tip range ends with heating, and the instructions advise buying tongs with thin jaws to avoid burning yourself. It comes with a cheap little "stand" to keep the heat in the air about an inch when it's lying down, and they also advise…

Fantastic little set

Instructions were very simple and clear. Each tip includes a description and how to use it. I have some small pieces of wood lying around my house and I decided to try on a set on them. I have no idea what kind of wood it is, but it gave off a soothing cedar scent as it burned. As you can see in the pictures I was able to make some really nice woodwork using pyrography. In the second image, I used my daughter's Crayola water markers and just slowly stroked them with ink. The set comes with lots

Nice set great tool great gift

My husband is a pyrographer and didn't have any tools with these attachments. It has two different types (now three). One is shaped like a wire tip and the other more like a pen. The pen style is by far the cheapest. He was very happy with the wire type. We have both used Weller soldering irons and have been happy with them (although Metcal is the best in my opinion). When I found out that Weller made a wood burning tool, I knew I had to order one for my husband. The set is great to start with,

I FAILED THE FIRST TEST

I've wanted to try this hobby for a long time, so I was excited to try this set. PROS: - Detailed instructions in fluent English - Pretty much everything you need is included - A piece of wood for practice is included. Tightly closed. I'm assuming it's a safety device and it seems to be working because I can't open the case. You need needle nose pliers. It would be nice if they were included. Maybe this is a test. If I had thin nosed pliers I might be able to remove this little guard. There's a

Comfortable to hold, no temperature control

Media could not be loaded. I have a couple of kids and they all love learning how to burn wood so we put together a few different kits including this one and two unbranded Chinese kits. In this test we will compare them. The short version is a higher quality wood burning tool. It is more convenient to use and change tips. But there is no cover and no switch and temperature control. Extended Version: The two Chinese brands are almost identical (one has a yellow temp gauge and the other has an…
