This is a great slicer although I really can't believe I actually paid that much for an egg slicer. I must have really, really wanted my eggs to be sliced! Anyway, it does a great job with eggs and strawberries. I'm sure sliced bananas cut well too, but who would take the time to slice a banana and then take it to a slicer? I'm not that lazy either. I have had an egg slicer for 3 years. I chose this one because it was advertised as stainless steel and dishwasher safe. With these qualities I expected it to last a very long time unless the wires get lost. However, it has been peeling off for a few months. The metal-like finish is a type of coating and will peel off.
