Ideal for special applications.

Really interesting concept. I've long wondered if anyone made welding goggles, and it turns out they do, and even with auto-dimming! I haven't used them much, but I've done MIG and Flux core welding with them. I will say that they are a really good alternative to a traditional welding helmet, especially when tack welding on projects where you don't have long welds and don't need all the bulky protection. Another application I find really useful is in tight spaces where a full size welding…

They are good because they

I bought them in case anyone wants to help with small projects. My dad used them more than me when welding my trailer, he preferred them to a full face helmet. I used them when teaching my wife to weld and they did a great job. They would be great if the shade was adjustable but for the price and size I can't complain. Be aware that you can burn yourself even if your eyes are protected. The other day I cooked a cart without a jacket because it was "quick work". In fact, for the next few days my

Be smart - stay safe - head protection

When you weld, you should use a welding helmet that protects your face, eyes and other objects. your PPE. Don't skimp, be smart, be safe. These goggles work great and darken and lighten as quickly as a welding helmet and adequately protect your eyes if you are an observer. Very little charging is required, and if you're working outdoors this won't be a problem. We weld indoors and haven't had any problems. They are perfect for me as I teach my son MIG fillet and groove welding and I don't have…

They have a specific use/place

This is a review of cheaper welding goggles. The ones without adjustments. I think they have a place in your welding cabinet for very specific situations. I do most of the welding work lying on my back under a jacked up car. Sometimes it's impossible to find a spot where I can see a weld in a helmet. I used to have to adjust the burner according to the old scheme, turn my head, close my eyes and pull the trigger. And it always ends up with a slightly misplaced weld and all the other annoyances…

Pros
  • Compact design allows welding in places where access is restricted with traditional welding helmets
Cons
  • Easily torn
