Good product for bedding

I use this in my Miller terrarium. I like it better than coconut shell substrate because it doesn't pack into the shell and isn't a breeding ground for fruit flies.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Clarity

Great Product - Reptiles & Amphibians

When our turtle started showing signs of shell rot we switched the substrate to this and she has improved greatly. We keep coming back to this product as it has worked so well for us.

  • Great Product
Cons

Great for potted plants!

I use this as a mulch for all my potted plants. I put it on the ground to retain moisture. It also hides dirt that can look ugly and makes plants more beautiful.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Only available in black

Great addition for aerating plant roots

This has become a staple in my 'indoor jungle' (for houseplants). Just like orchid bark, it aerates the soil well and retains adequate moisture. My philodendrons, monstera, and other aroids are particularly fond of it, but I'll probably add at least some of it to most of my potting mixes.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Ideal size smaller

These pieces of bark are significantly smaller than other reptile bark bedding. Since I use it as a potting soil supplement for houseplants, it really is perfect for me! Pieces of bark are one-quarter to one-half inch, while most other types of bark are one-half to one full inch. It's a bit denser than the traditional pieces of bark used for bonsai and houseplants, but is much cheaper and half the size. orchid bark. This is the fourth brand of reptile bark I've tried and it's by far my…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Great substrate for crested geckos!

We use this as the top substrate for our crested gecko terrarium. I don't have any live plants there and it sits on a mesh liner to separate it from the hydroballs at the very bottom of the tank. In general, it is very easy to work with him. I liked the price and the fact that it can be reused; but given the price i won't fret if i have to buy more than i have to clean. I used about half a bag for our large 12x12x18 terrarium. Like I said, I don't have live plants so I can't comment on how well

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not the best
