Review on Axie Infinity by Fanuel PORPORTY

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Axie Infinity is a digital community for pets and a platform for creating blockchain games. We are empowering players and creators through blockchain-based ownership structures.

Axie Infinity (AI) is an Ethereum-based game that offers NFT collectibles. It was originally an inactive browser game. But the developer made a major overhaul on December 19, 2019 that turned it into a turn-based active RPG with trading cards and monster breeding components. Like other collectible card games, Axie Infinity requires each player to build their own game. However, AI gives the idea a new twist by making each deck a product of a team of monsters controlled by the player.
Each player builds a collection of “axies,” NFT-supported creatures that can be bred and traded. From this collection, the player assembles a team of three axies to use in the current fight.

Pros
  • A player can create two axies with each other to produce a new unique axie. The new axie will share some of the traits of its parents, including the cards that these parents contribute to combat. Axie genetics work similarly to living things in the real world. Some traits are dominant, while others are recessive.
  • Players can earn Small Love Potion (SLP) by defeating enemies in PvE Adventure Mode or other players in the PvP Arena. SLP is an ERC-20 token. It is burned each time a player raises two axies with each other.
  • If a player has small love potions but doesn't want to duplicate his axies, he can sell his potions to other players for ETH, 0xBTC and many other cryptocurrencies via the decentralized Uniswap Exchange.
  • The new version of the game runs on a standalone application. Not only does this allow for smoother gameplay, but it also allows players to enjoy AI on their mobile devices. It's a huge advantage that the game's competitors seem to have overlooked.
Cons
  • Entry barrier for non-crypto audience. But once you pass that barrier, you wont stop loving this game.
  • Might not be attractive to free-to-play players
