Cabinet Door Hinges Repair

This Blum cabinet hinge has been used by many carpenters. After years of non-stop opening and closing, the plastic cover is breaking. You can still open and close doors, but they will no longer stay open or close on their own if they are half-closed. It only takes a Phillips screwdriver to replace this part and a few minutes to complete the repair.

Fits perfectly as does my 20 year old hinges

It took a while but these replacement hinges are a perfect match for the hinges that were installed in my cabinets 20 years ago after the original hinges finally came worn out after constant daily use. My biggest problem was putting them back in place and finding the closet door's starting position, but patience and perseverance got me there. Look closely at the position of the old hinge before taking a picture, or just take a close-up shot with your phone. I'm hoping to get another 20 years of

Loops only. No mounting screws.

Perfect for my hinges. Other sources for these that I've used always included screws to attach the hinge to the cabinet door. Not this package. But it doesn't matter, because I use them as a replacement and can continue to use existing screws. Please note that the kit includes a screw to attach to the plate on the appropriate part of the frame. The service life of such loops is 15-20 years. I am considering buying enough of these now to go through another full replacement cycle because who…

Spare Parts: Hinges

I built my home over thirty years ago and all the kitchen cabinets, laundry rooms and bathrooms have Blum hinges. There are about 60 Blum loops in my house. A few months ago a spring broke in one of the hinges. I was happy to find the same hinge in stock and only had to order one of the 2 piece hinge parts. It took less than ten minutes to remove the cabinet door, replace the broken portion of the hinge, and reinstall. I bought a set of 8 thinking other springs might soon fail. Nobody has, but…

Perfect replacement makes me happy

After 17 years some of the hinges on my kitchen cabinets started clicking every time they were opened and closed which annoyed me every day. I finally got to this issue and found that over time these hinges wear out and the plastic in them cracks. Sometimes you can see a small piece of black plastic coming loose, and most of the time you won't find any evidence. If you look closely at the hinge you can see where the plastic was. Compare the working hinge with the faulty one to identify the…

This replaces the part of the Blum 110 that tends to break

My kitchen was remodeled 18 years ago and the new cabinets used Blum Compact 33 hinges. About 6 years later a small one broke Piece of plastic from one of the hinges Detail that interfered with normal operation. The cabinet maker supplied several replacement parts that were used over the next few years as more hinges failed. When I couldn't find a replacement, I turned to Revain. This is exactly what was needed and I've had 8 of these set up for many years and can buy more on future hinge…

Matching replacement for Compact 31 hinges

I bought these to replace Compact 31 hinges for my cabinets which are no longer made by Blum; I called the company to confirm that they are compatible and that they are compatible. Note that the hole pattern has changed - the difference between the 31 and 33 is that the metal plate that screws into the front of the case is rotated 180 degrees. It fits in the same recess in the closet. I was able to use the screws I had in my closet to attach the new hinges, but I drilled two new pilot holes to…

They have been working on my very old cabinets - with some modifications

This kit did not include any screws or fasteners to attach to the cabinet itself BUT that was not a problem as I replaced existing "bad" hinges on doors that would not close. I had an old style hinge where the arm is on the opposite side. To be clear, I looked for the right hinges at hardware stores (where they cost 3x the price and the bracket on my door didn't fit properly), ebay. I finally bought them and they are great. Since the hinge is on the opposite side, I had to screw in the new…

An exact replacement for obsolete hinges. Ease of installation.

The good news is that these Blum Compact 33 self-closing hinges with 110 degree screw are an exact replacement for the broken Blum hinges on the same model. A Phillips screwdriver with two screws and a bolt makes it easy to remove broken hinges and install new ones easily. I like hinges because they are silent and they work smoothly (when they are not broken). The bad news is that eventually the inner plastic part will break and no longer hold the hinge open. Instead, even a broken hinge can…
