Bright and easy to use; However, you must have the correct Arduino/ESP8266 driver. I used LiquidCrystal_I2C.h. You also need to play around with the pot on the back to get the best display. I use enough displays from 2004 for a product I make. I usually buy them from another seller. It wouldn't surprise me that they are all made in the same factory. I ordered these 2 packs because I --- need 2 displays! The pins were bent and one of the pins was missing the LED/POWER jumper. The packaging of the order was terrible. The packaging on the displays could be appropriate if they were packaged properly from the start. Saving a few dollars didn't make up for the 45 minute troubleshooting.

I felt like I really had to write this review. I am working on an Arduino project and have purchased a total of four of these two displays. I have two of these that are DOA and one with a bad line in it. That's 37.5% of infant mortality from the FACTORY! Number two. These displays are terribly packaged. Because of this, they were all received with bent pins. I'm not sure how this would affect point one above. I'd love to recommend them, but it's difficult due to the factors above.

I ordered a pair of these displays to use with the Arduino. One of the two came with no jumpers, the pins are slightly bent and the plastic film on the display is damaged which made me suspect a return, but it worked perfectly and once I removed the protective film the display itself was in good condition Constitution. These displays are very popular and extremely easy to use with Arduino. They come with and without an I2C backpack. This particular seller is offering 2004 pairs (with backpacks) at a very high price so I bought two pairs. One of the units had a small problem with the backpack - it wouldn't turn on the LCD backlight, although the LCD backlight itself worked fine, I was able to turn it on by powering it directly from the edge connector on the 2004 PCB. Poorly packaged, bent pins, backlight jumper missing. By setting a jumper and aligning the contacts, the display worked. It worked fine on my Arduino connected table for about a week and then stopped showing data. I can reset or upload to Arduino but the display doesn't show any data.
