Cool Spinning Gear Set for 4 Year Old Autistic Birthday

My parents bought this as a gift for our autistic son for his 4th birthday. You knew he loved things going in circles and he really went for it on his birthday! Admittedly he hasn't played with it that much since then, partly because he's having a hard time getting the green base pieces together (I'm even having a bit of a hard time putting them back in place), but it's pretty neat once you put it together does start. I wish she could hold his attention 10 minutes longer but the toy itself is…

Special Ed Pre-K Teaches and Mom

As a Pre-K educator and mom of 2 and 4 year olds, I give this toy the highest rating. They are super durable. I've had kits in my class for too many years to remember and only now noticed that the tabs on one or two of the green base pieces were broken off. They've been thrown and grabbed, shaken and pulled, and they still work great. Even the parts that are missing the spring still fit together and work great because there are two tabs or two grooves on each side. It is difficult for 3 and 4…

A bit disappointed in the best construction toys

I really wanted to like this toy, really. I bought this when the kids were 2.5 and we also got a set for our birthdays. This toy has rarely seen the light of day. My boys love playing with Magna tiles and they are inseparable from Lego. All they do is build, build, build and they love anything that moves. So it looks like it's right up her alley, right? No! When it came out I sat with them and we built it together following the instructions but it was too difficult to get the wheels turning and

Funny that 3 is too young to play alone

I bought this for my son who is almost 3 years old. I also bought him a factory set of robots. When comparing, I found that the green bases in this set are a bit more difficult to assemble and disassemble. He needs help using the bases. The connections are tight too. It's too hard for him to play without my help. He can only engage the gears. I think I'll have to wait until he's older to play alone. Additionally, the activity guide that came with the box contained incorrect information about…

Great toy, wish there were more of these.

My son and I were visiting a friend and they had a set of these. The two guys quickly got down to making all sorts of things and I was amazed. The set was really cool and seemed to draw a lot of their creativity and imagination. I loved it, especially how it helped them think and decide how to build things and what they could do to make all the mechanisms work together. Together we built cars and beautiful things with moving parts. When we got home I ordered a set for my son because we had so…
