Keep this in mind. best shower flow control valve

I am writing this review in relation to a specific item that I purchased. I can't comment on the rest of the Delta products, but the one I bought had a broken threaded hole. It's nothing you want to know after you've installed everything and tiled the entire wall. Of course, if you buy this product, check it for defects before installing it.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Easy DIY Installation: Rough Installation

Replaces an old Moen Chateau shower valve that did not have anti-scald temperature protection. Any time we used water anywhere in the house, you could burn or freeze the person in the shower. As long as I like it! It was easy to cut out the old valve and attach with (3) 1/2 Sharkbite fittings. Fits perfectly in our 2x4 deep wall with a 2x4 on the back for attachment. I also bought a Delta Trim Kit which included a cartridge.

  • Great for me

Unreliable product.

Purchased a year ago for a bathroom renovation while renovating a house I bought. I started living in the house 3 months ago and this valve is leaking into the basement. New tiled bathroom and new kitchen behind it, no idea what to do? The contractor says he's coming over this weekend and praying for a miracle. Do not purchase this valve from Delta Shame for the manufacture of such a product. Edit: After opening the wall, the contractor found a leak. A screw was drilled into the pipe. The…

Works well, handles temperature changes

I bought this to use on a pipe replacement project. One of the complaints we had in our current home was that the water got very hot when the shower head was "hung up" in the head. When the normal water flow resumes, the water will first get hot and then return to the set temperature. This valve completely eliminates this problem by maintaining a constant temperature and completely preventing overheating. I didn't install it myself; my plumber took care of it so i can talk about the easy…

Great roughness in the valves.

I have installed two of these in new showers. I'm happy with them. Two different experts advised me to use Delta behind the walls. I could always get parts for them and they go 2x4 against drywall. I soldered them. It's best to solder the copper pieces that go directly into the valve first when the valve is on a table or floor so the solder doesn't run down and clog the waterhole. I learned this by watching a professional plumber describe how one day berating a valve on site caused him a…

Second failure in 6 months

We renovated the guest bathroom about 6 months ago and the master bathroom less than a month ago. In both cases we installed the same Delta Multichoice valve body. 2 months ago the faucet in the bath got cold even with the valve set to the hottest temperature. We called a plumber who found the cartridge defective and replaced it for over $200. The shower faucet in the main bathroom got cold yesterday. We started by adjusting the hot water stop all the way counterclockwise, but the water still…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Slight differences between models of this valve. There is another "stopped" version that I should have bought instead, because I'm renovating and retiling a bathroom, not just replacing a valve and faucet. Replaced the water heater the week before, installed this valve and left it plugged in with no faucet cartridge. Suddenly I couldn't get hot water anywhere in the house. It turned out that because of this valve, cold and hot were mixed throughout the house. I installed the cartridge and pen…

Great base valve for shower flow control valves

I have renovated both showers in my house and have used two different versions of this valve (this one which is for the shower only and also the one which has a tub opening). I attached my supply lines and shower line to this valve with threaded fittings (instead of soldering) - just make sure to use both liquid thread sealant and thread sealing tape to ensure there are no leaks. I had to get a little creative to attach this valve - it has a few small holes that can be nailed or screwed into a…
