You get what you pay for

It was great at first but I feel like it has become jaded and weakened very quickly. At this point, if you look at it from the side, the two ends of the wire cutters are too far apart to easily grab and strip wires, and the cutting edge is blunt enough to cut anything at all. I know it. very cheap but I was expecting them to last a little longer, I feel I've used them very sparingly and am already looking for something else.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power

will not work with 30AWG wire

When I receive a wire stripper that says it will work on certain sizes of wire, I assume it will work on all of those sizes. This one says it will work with 30 AWG solid wire, which is why I bought it. It does not work with 30AWG wire. it doesn't even penetrate the insulation. The wire (and insulation) will just slip through. I returned it. otherwise the price-performance ratio is great. I should have known better. The price was too low for a decent 30AWG wire stripper.

Accurate tool for the price!

It's hard to find a good precision puller set, but Dowell has nailed it. You know how annoying it can be when you have a bunch of lame wire strippers that won't make clean cuts in the insulation, hell, regular wire cutting, especially when you get to the small wire gauge of 22-30 AWG these wire strippers work great. They worked so well on the smaller gauges that I ordered another pair for the next step down to 12-22 AWG and you couldn't beat the price!

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Long lead time

WON'T LET 30ga wire strip

I've tried repeatedly to use this tool to strip wire with wrap #30. It didn't touch the insulation and in 20 or 30 attempts by me and 3- 4 others in our electronics group didn't strip a single wire. It took a little practice, but standard wire cutters will get it right every time. I had a particularly thin wire that was only 1/2 inch long and needed to be stripped. It was returned for full recognition. Maybe if you don't NEED to strip that little wire it might be useful, but not for this…

Disappointment Practice

This design has been around for decades and is produced by many manufacturers. A common disadvantage is that the blades will bind before they are fully closed, as is the case with this tool. I had to gently manipulate the blades to close them on the wire with my left hand while holding the tool with my right hand and the wire with my third hand. I'm just having fun! I don't really have a third hand, but this tool makes you want one. What should have lasted two seconds stretches to five, ten or…
