I update the rating after a month of wearing 3-4 times a week. The elastic that holds the tongue proved annoying and needs to be adjusted every time I put the shoe on to keep it from tightening inside the shoe. But much worse is that the elastic on the leg pinches (I have a high arch). Even with barely tied shoelaces, there is constant pressure that is barely noticeable at first, but becomes very annoying after 10-12 hours of wearing. I'm stocking up on TG3 gloves and I hope the TG5 returns to…

Trail Packing Approved!

Walked 250 milesMy first minimalist shoe. I have to say that I really like her. They fit well and snugly and are very comfortable. The grip is impressive, which is why I preferred these other minimalist shoes I've tested in stores. Was pleasantly surprised by the cushioning Coming from a parkour background, finding a shoe that can handle long falls without killing my foot is important. They will change the way you run; which in my case was a good thing for resolving my shin splints as I…

Doesn't live up to its name anymore

I've been a fan of Merrell Trail Gloves since I bought my first pair in 2012. Then I wanted a minimal shoe for everyday use and easy walking. I tried the Vibram FiveFingers but quickly gave up because they generated too much unwanted talk and were too much of a hassle to keep clean (since you don't wear socks with them). After meeting FiveFinger I was so glad I found the Merrell Trail Glove. They gave me the same barefoot feel but with a standard look. They served me for many years until I…

A great version of an already great shoe.

I had the original Trail Glove followed by the Trail Glove 3. The first Trail Glove was the best. Initially I was disappointed with the Trail Glove 3 because they added this weird wedge for arch support on the inside of the foot and it was a foreign feel. However, I loved and appreciated the Trail Glove 3. The Trail Glove 4 is no exception. I love the changes they made to the shoes. The tongue, instead of being a separate piece, is now integrated into the shoe, making it look more like a valve.

I have EE front feet but size D heels and prefer zero drop so I have to compromise. I have run in: VFF, VivoBarefoot Neo Trails, New Balance Minimus Trail and MR00 and Merrell Vapor Gloves. Whenever possible, I walk barefoot along the shore near the waterline. The MR00 was my favorite road shoe until it was discontinued. These are my favorite trail running shoes at the moment. As others have said, the outsole is a bit stiff for a "minimalist" shoe, but they are slip-resistant and the stiffness…

Extremely comfortable!

This is my first experience with this Merrell product and my initial impression is very favorable. As an independent personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur, I regularly evaluate fitness products to give my clients well-founded recommendations. To this end, I train barefoot and encourage all my clients to do so whenever possible. However, most gyms do not allow this practice, which requires proper footwear. The Trail Glove 4 Runner seems to meet this requirement quite well. I've worn them on…
