Analog Gem - Security and Surveillance

Excellent scanner capable of scanning 500 channels in seconds. I hooked it up to an external J-pole antenna at fifteen feet and received signals clearly over a fifty mile range.

    Good Scanner: Security & Surveillance

As a radio amateur, I use it to monitor many frequencies that I don't hear radio amateurs listen to. Worked straight away and shipping was fast. Good reception and easy programming once you master the programming flow.

    High quality, easy programming

Bought this for my neighbors (because I already have one and love it). They just wanted to hear from the local sheriff, fire department, and city police in our small town. It was easy to program and had a great sound. I liked it and so did they.

It was a waste of my money and effort and I wish I could.

This is a complex technology whose application must be understood! I bought it just before our last hurricane was approaching, hoping to be aware of the weather conditions, especially in the event of a power outage. Spring. As a member of Prime, he came on time but was trying to make it work.? OH! It was a waste of my money and effort and I would happily return it for my money!

    • Appearance

A little confusing to understand how to work with this thing but I'll get started. It picks up transmissions from over 20 miles away. I learn a little more every day that I use it. In general I am satisfied. I'm sure that once I figure out how to use all of its features, I will actually be able to use all of its features. Nice little scanner.

Very good scanner - radio scanner

First bought Uniden Home Patrol 2. I've read good reviews of this unit on Amazon but don't give it good ratings. I couldn't record anything with the HP2. The volume was also very low. After sending it back I said "the hell with it" and bought this great value device. Guess what? It offers 10X better performance than HP2 at a lower cost. You don't always get what you pay for, lesson learned.

    Pros
    • Everything great!

Good start. Best security and surveillance

It's possible that a well-healed scanner newbie might be tempted to buy a more expensive and powerful scanner than this one. It would be a mistake. It is better to buy this item cheaply to know how difficult these things are. Almost all keys have multiple functions depending on the previously pressed key. While this can be learned and enjoyed, a more complex scanner can be intimidating for a beginner. You can always buy a more expensive scanner later if you need a bigger challenge.

    Pros
    • Durable workmanship
    Cons
    • Minor issues

    Very good analogue scanner

This is exactly the scanner I was looking for. At first I was concerned about the sound quality from such a small speaker, but it was very clear and loud. Programming the scanner is relatively easy if you follow the instructions in the manual, unless you plan to program all 500 channels. It will take some time. The only minor complaint I have is that the 5 buttons on the top of the device have secondary functions marked in red, which doesn't show up very well on a dark scanner. Maybe white was…

    Great scanner

This is a great scanner at a very reasonable price. It has more programmable channels than anyone can ever fill, and the scanning speed traverses them fast enough that you don't miss a thing. Features like 'Priority', 'Delay' and 'Weather' are great. I found it very easy to program and was up and running in about half an hour not counting the time it took to find the frequency lists and download them to my tablet which is pretty easy too. It can't handle encrypted traffic, but firefighters…
