Review on πŸ–₯ ASUS PB278Q 27 Inch Flicker Free Monitor with 2560X1440 DisplayPort and LED Display - HD, HDMI by Josh Mazumdar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Risky monitor roulette? Although my cool and classy

Reading these reviews they range from "Oh my god AMAZING!" to "I just sent back my 4th." I don't know the ratio of good to bad people have to send back, but mine is excellent. Luckily, Revain's return policy is great. So if you receive a lemon there is no problem in sending it back and getting a good one. I know this isn't something some people should do, but keep trying until you get a good result. I tried a low resolution of 120Hz, I tried a triple screen, I went back to that 2560 x 1440 in increments of 0.233 points. This is the best for me. For games, for reading texts, everything is fine. After trying 120Hz and even triple low-res 1080 screens (1920 x 1080 and 5760 x 1080) and switching back to high-res, the BF3 is amazingly sharp and detailed again. Not only the high resolution, but also the dot pitch of 0.233 mm ensure amazing sharpness when gaming. I am convinced that high resolution is the best way. Not 120Hz, not triple screen. The matte finish is not aggressive or harsh. The stand makes all the movements you want and is easy to assemble. Pixels, no backlight issues, no surface smudges, so the panel itself is great, but there are scuffs and scrapes on the BACK of the plastic frame that surrounds the screen. A very small quality control thing, but it doesn't affect me or the experience. I don't think too much about that. UPDATE: 03/23/2013. Oh ;) I just found out about that horse I was talking about. It wasn't a bunch of scratches on the back of the bezel. It was actually a thin sheet of plastic that should have peeled off when unpacked. My mistake. The monitor is perfect. Note: In the monitor settings. Make sure to do some custom settings: - They say to set the brightness to 37 but that was too dark for me. I like 55 - Contrast up to 80 - Splendid Mode: User - Set RGB Gain: R - 47 G - 49 B - 45 - Set Trace to 40 . No dead pixels, no backlight issues, amazing clarity. Great monitor. If you order this and receive one with a problem. Don't be upset. I know it sucks but bring it back through Revain and get another one. It will be worth it. This is an excellent, detailed monitor with a bright, beautiful picture. Also played a lot of BF3 and had no problems with ghosting/input lag at all. Another update: 08/10/2013. The monitor was amazing except it was starting to have electrical issues. It started randomly switching between graphics modes. Custom, sRGB, Theater, Landscape, etc. I frantically switched between modes and couldn't do anything about it. The menu buttons didn't respond, so the reset failed. I left it unplugged for a while but that didn't help. I've had too much time to return to Revain so I went through Asus' RMA process and wanted to give an update and give them props. Asus paid for shipping to/from the monitor and replaced the board in about a week or less. When they sent it back it was well wrapped in bubble wrap and works great again. Asus is a great brand and their support is great too. This monitor is amazing.
