I'm a photographer and I've spent about 4 weeks learning about monitors. I rushed between ASUS PB278Q and Dell 2713H. It was a tough decision, but after comparing the features, price, and reading other reviews, I finally settled on the ASUS PB278Q. Here's why: 1. PLS panels deliver better blacks than IPS panels (important for photo editing)2. The mid-500 price saved me about $100 that I could spend on buying a calibration colorimeter3. There weren't really any negative reviews for the monitor, but I felt ASUS didn't get the best reviews given its constant comparison to the more familiar name Dell4. The resolution was ideal and necessary for a 27 inch monitor - 2560 x 14405. It's 100% sRGB, which is a smaller color gamut compared to ProRGB and Adobe RGB, but sRGB is an internet standard and still produces correct color photos. it's easy to get carried away by all the tech stuff and numbers, but it comes down to real-world application: even the most expensive, high-end monitor with the wrong graphics card can limit the monitor, and vice versa with a great graphics card, mid-range monitor specs will exceed most people's expectations. That's exactly what ASUS did for me. It exceeded my expectations for color reproduction and accuracy right out of the box. Based on a 25-inch 1080P color monitor where colors changed depending on the viewing angle, the ASUS was like a BMW 750 compared to a Toyota Camry. It just made everything better. In fact, I went back to the old edited photos and corrected them because I had a more accurate idea of the color. One of the most frustrating things for a photographer is when your photos change color because your monitor is showing you something different than you expected online or in print. I feel like my editing skills have improved with more accurate colors. You will read reviews talking about light glare, flickering due to LED backlight, etc. I will tell you that I have not noticed any of these problems. . Yes, on a completely black screen you can see small highlights in the corners, but in a real application this is not noticeable, not one bit. I noticed absolutely no flickering. The monitor is excellent, there are no complaints about it. I am very happy with my purchase. Here's a list of my pros and cons (note that my cons aren't really related to monitor capabilities): Pros: * Color accuracy * Resolution (2560 x 1440 is phenomenal, it represents a much better representation of images. I can't go back NOTE: For a resolution of 2560 x 1440 you must connect via DVI-D or Display Port (HDMI is not supported at this resolution if your graphics card does not support it.) * Monitor size * Price * Wide viewing angle that eliminates color shift depending on what angle you are viewing from (no up/down or left/right color shift)*PLS panels deliver better blacks than IPS panels*100% sRGB color gamut*Easy to rotate (you need to rotate the monitor slightly pull it out to a horizontal position) * Easy to work in the dark or in the light * No reflections * The semi-gloss sheet is not matt or smudged. It's a nice mix of matte and glossy finishes. * All connection cables are included (Dual DVI, HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort etc.) * Easy assembly * 3 year guarantee. calibrated (but worth the price and great colors) * No USB ports on monitor (nice but not essential) * Favor side buttons over bottom buttons As you can see, the pros outweigh the cons. If you are in the process of choosing a monitor and are looking for a great monitor without spending a lot of money, then this is the monitor for you. I believe you will be very satisfied. Other monitors of this size and resolution cost $100-1000 more. Upgrading to a 30-inch monitor is more than double the price of a 27-inch monitor, but the difference in size isn't huge. Also, for even better color accuracy, calibrate your monitor with one of the best color measurement and calibration software on the market. I hope this review is helpful to you. Happy shopping and once again you can't go wrong with this monitor.
