quick result for fish and aquatic animals

Test strips are ideal for those who don't have time to check the water values during the week. The strips are close to other best test kits. Great while there's time on the weekend.

Expired goods sent

They sent a box covered in dust and quickly found out why. The ammonia test strips have expired (4 months) and the other strips have expired after 15 days. I figured maybe the expiration date wasn't too critical, but I tested 3 different water samples from 3 sources and the test strips showed the same amount of ammonia in each of them. One of the samples was from bottled water, and at the amount shown in the test, the water should have tasted like urine. Probably a decent product but from a…

Great test strips for all the basics

It works well, they are the only test strips I have found that contain ammonia, nitrite and nitrate which are the main ones. The "ranges" are wide so this is the kit if you want to maintain 8x and 7.2pH or special settings for sensitive species. (For example, PH is halved. That's a factor of 5!) Still, it's good for baseball numbers. It can confirm if the tank is cycling and give you approximate pH and hardness readings - enough for most. Cheap aquarium strips? Get these. The expiry date is…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • not sure

I use them to monitor the pH in my brine tank. The pH range is too limited and the color changes too subtle to really tell what your actual pH is. I don't know of a better alternative, but that doesn't make this acceptable in any way. I've tried expensive "pH meters" that are too finicky about drying out and rinsing with distilled water and such nonsense, and yet require constant calibration with known pH reference liquids, even if you use them that way treat it as you should. I've tried all…
