Fraud. These drives are out of warranty

As another reviewer mentioned, beware buyers! That's cheating! I bought 8 retail discs and received 8 discs out of warranty. The site clearly states that I am buying drives with a 5 year warranty, but Seagate has informed me that these drives are no longer warranted. UPDATE: Another drive has failed and is out of warranty. This Revain scam is costing me a lot of money. UPDATE #2 I contacted Seagate as they suggested in the comment below to get the warranty they are talking about and was again…

Came in a paper box!

Added Review: After using this article for a month, I noticed a few things about this line of Exos drives. 1) You can safely register them with Seagate to get the warranty since at least 14TB and 16TB versions. This happened to me and I bought from SaberPC and Global Silicon. Other sellers may be different. 2) They are a bit noisy compared to the Barracuda range. For example, if you use a hard drive dock that opens drives, you might even think that something is wrong in the drives when you copy

Noisy. Collect unrecoverable bad sectors. Now he's dead

Very noisy when reading and writing. Only suitable for archiving: write once, read many times. You can't rely on reliability. Always make a backup on my backup server. Windows Explorer sometimes freezes when reading the folder list and constantly shows a progress bar in the address bar. 3 months from the start of accumulation of unrecoverable bad sectors. The drive is mainly used for reading operations in the photo, video and music library. The bad sector accumulation rate is approximately 2-3…

Top quality discs cheaper than IronWolf!

I upgraded my QNAP NAS with 8 of these drives and was happy with the results. I went from 8 x 10TB to 8 x 16TB and the process involved rebuilding the array after replacing each drive, which took about a week (17 hours per drive). These discs are currently cheaper than comparable IronWolf series discs, which is surprising considering they perform better and are considered higher quality (hence the 'Enterprise' nickname). I hope this review helps you make an informed purchasing decision.

Exactly what I've come to expect from an enterprise hard drive

Exactly what I've come to expect from an enterprise hard drive: fast, hot, noisy. I bought five 8TB drives for RAID 10 and after cranking it all up they made me laugh and smile as they remind me of the 10k-15k RPM SAS/SCSI drives I have in the data processing of the hub. Testing on Linux with md RAID 10 and dd, stable read at 400MB/s so can't complain. For those who comment on the warranty, only buy from Revain. If you buy from third parties, you gamble and waste your time.

8TB is a bit misleading

Bought 2 of these for a NAS I was building. I bought them for capacity, price and reliability. Some studies have shown that they are well-reviewed. The only thing I have is that they call it 8TB but it's actually 7.2. Where I went to school and studied mathematics. When rounding the numbers, this is called 7TB, not 8TB. If it was 7.8 or something remotely similar, I would understand. But not 7.2. Shame on you Seagate. Now for the good. They have an annual failure rate of 0.35%. This is one of…

Buyers beware the best in computers and accessories

Bought with Revain Prime, manufactured by Revain, sold by Platinum Micro Inc. a flamboyant online tech boutique has had a disastrous decline in recent years suffered). The SOP for my shop requires hard drives to verify the serial number with the manufacturer before going through advanced SMART testing and eventually being deployed or shelved. S/N at Seagate fails right away. phew Second, no dice. Well, it's time to try old Revain chat. I contacted Millena with Revain support and to her credit…

does not have the guarantee stated in the description!

This review is for the 8TB Exos. Based on the drive's serial number, this 8TB Exos isn't covered by Seagate's warranty, but the description says it has a 5-year warranty. False advertising. In addition, Revain receives a star for her support. Support kept telling me to contact the manufacturer, Seagate, even though I told them Seagate would not support this drive because it is an OEM version. Fast update. This review only applies to the drive purchased from that particular vendor, SabrePC. I…

Fast but watch out for the OEM bait and switch

***Updated 10/16/20*** Bought another of these drives after the first one was so good. I received an OEM drive from Platinum Micro Inc. No mention of OEM hard drives sold at the same retail price. Don't do this unless you trust Platinum Micro to fix issues you may have had over the years, firmware, noise, crashes, etc. Yes, that's right. I've been in IT since the 90's and have seldom seen a reseller honor an OEM warranty except for big names like Dell, HP etc. Market vendors offering OEMs leave
