1 Gbps! Don't forget mass.

I am getting 1 Gbps from my. If not, try other cables. I grounded it by attaching a ground wire to the ground screw on the back of the UPS. Not everyone has it, but it's worth checking if you have. So I actually have a cable modem on a small UPS - literally the only thing on that UPS. I then have this protector between it and my router, which is attached to a second, larger UPS with everything else. I could have used a surge protector instead of the first UPS, but the beauty of a decent UPS…

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Upgrade availability

Easy installation, no speed problems!

When I found that the surge protector I bought came with Ethernet protection I almost returned it. I have an Xfinity Internet advertised at 200Mbps and a Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro which I upgraded to after a lightning strike went through my last modem and router, two switches, an ethernet port on one of mine Destroyed PCs and the motherboard on my '65 Visio TV. When I found that I was only getting 80-90 Mbps when setting up a new router, I bypassed the Ethernet surge protector on the power…

Solved huge problem in my home LAN

I live in a place where thunderstorms are frequent. Despite having a new, well-grounded house, whole-house surge protectors on my electrical panel, and high-end surge protectors for all my devices, I've dealt with lightning strikes and power surges for years. My entire LAN and components were connected to my modem via an external coaxial cable and via a wired LAN. I had to replace several expensive components with the coax cable due to overvoltage. I bought this Tupavco Protector based on…

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Weak

We had severe thunderstorms and lightning in this area a month ago and somehow a surge got into my home ethernet network and destroyed about 50% of the connected devices. We had surge protectors for the whole house AND all the equipment is plugged into a UPS, so my theory is that it came through our DSL modem or Ubiquiti wireless antenna and then spread out through my ethernet network. I found out the hard way that most home insurance deductibles are a percentage of the home's value (I had…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak

We had a massive lightning strike when a surge went through the Spectrum cable. We also had a severe (induced?) power surge on the temporary external network cable from the temporary IP surveillance cameras in the tree. The network cable has been protected by this Gas Discharge Ethernet Surge Protector before it reaches the DVR. The cable was destroyed up to the spark gap, but NOT further. The DVR was clearly NOT damaged. I've included photos showing the damaged sections of the cable and the…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

gigabits? PoE? Works well? Yes to all three.

Works exactly as advertised. I did my "homework" (research) and read many reviews on many products. Many reviews are cautionary tales describing the hardware damage (and regrets!) associated with *not* using Ethernet surge protectors. I currently use two of these; one to protect the WAN port that powers my router and one to protect the LAN port (that powers the 24-port Gigabit PoE switch). After all, the overvoltage and transient protection is based on a "layered protection" approach! A few…

  • Absolute Legend
