Review on Sceptre C248B 144RN: Edge Less FreeSync DisplayPort, Curved Screen, 165Hz, Built-In Speakers, Frameless Design, Blue Light Filter – LED Monitor by Fernando Barron

Great first/budget curved monitor

Got this as an upgrade for my almost 10 year old (though still great) monitor. I chose the C24 curved monitor because I play a lot of games and the price of this monitor was too good to pass up. It was very easy to assemble and set up. The stand is metal and very sturdy and comes with a pair of cable management clips. There's no vertical height adjustment or swivel functionality, but it does tilt up and down. I have a monitor stand, the height I need. I don't have any streaks or dead pixels which I was very concerned about when I didn't see the extra packaging and the box was slightly damaged upon delivery. It comes with a displayport cable but after looking at reviews and pin 20 Q&A and unsure if the pin of the cable that came with it was active or not I decided to get it from another seller, who specifically stated that the pin was inactive...just in case. The curvature of the monitor (1800R) is not overly dramatic. , but that's fine as I've never had a curved monitor and I was concerned the sharper curvature would be distracting. It has definitely helped me become more immersed in my games. I'm still trying to improve the picture/color quality. It's not terrible by any means, but having used the same monitor for almost a decade I'm of course used to the way it looks. I'm still trying to find the best way to calibrate it. Right now the FPS setting in the OSD (monitor menu) is the most similar to what my other monitor has. I can get up to 144 FPS depending on the game and my settings; Online games can also vary greatly depending on the server. In World of Warcraft for example my FPS can average 60-75 in very populated big cities but in other places I get consistently 120-144 FPS. You need to make sure you have a compatible cable and resolution, and change your display settings (in both Windows and graphics settings) to 144Hz. Overall I am very happy with this monitor and glad I got it. jump to get a curved monitor. I definitely recommend this one if you're looking for your first curved monitor but don't want to break the bank.
