Great solution to a common problem

Like one of the reviewers, I repaired the original temperature controller by soldering the wires. A year later, the wires broke in a new place. This kit bypasses the weak point and seals the connection with the supplied tape. The instructions that came with the kit were excellent with pictures of each step.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Big and bulky

COLD AIR. for parts

I bought a used Highlander 03 for a very good price but instead of cold air when I turned on the air con all I got was hot air. Googled what the problem could be and the climate control module was a common problem. When I remove the handle I see that the three soldered wires are not connected. So I decided to try this product. I made it in under an hour when my 2.5 year old asked what you were doing and now I have cold air.

Doesn't work with all highlanders - take a look inside the grip!

As you can see in the photo, the stem on the handlebars has a T-shaped cross-section. My 2004 Highlander pen has a "D" shaped hole so it didn't work. There is a great video on YT on how to fix your control box if you can desolder and solder 3 wires. This kit can work if you want to cut the base off the T stem. I did a solder repair and sent this kit back. 4 stars if it fits your Highlander, looks like it should work and the replacement bulbs are easy to install. 1 star because it's quite…

I own a 2005 Toyota Highlander. Soldered.

I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander. A few years ago I soldered the temperature controller wires after seeing a guy on YouTube doing it. That fixed it then. In the spring, my air conditioner got HOT. Very hot. After I re-soldered the wire, the AC was still HOT. Wasn't sure what happened. My AC coolant has been tested. Then I decided to take a risk and buy a kit. Took me about 30 minutes to install. It's been 2 weeks now. Now I can say with confidence that my problem is solved. My air conditioner is

Works great now. Watched YouTube video

Fixed issues with 2005 Toyota Highlander. The air conditioning worked sporadically and changed the temperature. After disassembly, only one of the three terminals to the temperature controller was still in contact - a common problem, as it turned out. Use this kit to replace this handle and wiring. Works great now. I watched a video on youtube, took about 30 minutes, saved several hundred dollars compared to the store. Very happy with the money saved although the price seems very high. In…

Saved my life! fits power module - ATC

Initially I followed a YouTube video which was pretty easy to figure out how to solve the temperature problem in my 2004 Toyota Highlander, all was going well until I disassembled everything and didn't remove the broken wires and started soldering new wires. I understood the concept but had no experience. Realizing I was failing terribly, I turned to the internet to find a solution. This was fixed for either $400 or around $100 with this kit. I bought the set and it saved my life! I wasn't sure

I literally saved over $1,000!

So the heater control in our 2002 Highlander was a little erratic for a year or two. I had a mechanic look at this a few months ago. They informed me that the entire "control panel" would need to be replaced to fix the problem. We're talking $1200-1400 with labor here. We decided against it as the heater would still work with enough "hit". Well, of course, now that winter has arrived, the heater/defroster has decided it's all done. not an option you can do without!. So log on to Google and…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Great product, some tips for potential buyers

I spent three miserable summers without air conditioning because I didn't want to spend $900 on a new unit and was too nervous to take the console apart and try to solder the wires to the temperature controller. I can't believe I didn't find this product sooner, it's great to have AC again. Very easy to install with a few notes: 1: The new bulbs are definitely annoyingly weak, I don't think they need replacing, not sure why they're on. 2: When replacing the light bulbs, do not try to force them

Pros
  • Chic design
Cons
  • Expensive

Great power module solution - ATC

I have to say I don't usually leave reviews but felt compelled to do so with this Highlander climate control repair kit. My wife's Highlander air conditioner stopped working. We spoke to our mechanic and he told us that replacing the A/C would cost over $1,000. He also told us that this is a common problem with the Highlander and is caused by a wire connecting the main AC circuit board to the temperature control rheostat. If the temperature control is loosened at all, the cable will likely rock

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • poorly thought out
