The GrayBunny Caged Tube Feeder is great to attract a variety of birds such as finches, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, juncos and more! The big iron cage discourages larger birds like grackles, pigeons and cowbirds. Great for mixed seed blends, millet, milo, unshelled peanuts, sunflower seeds, and thistle nyjer. EFFECTIVE DESIGN: Precisely sized openings to allow in smaller songbirds but not squirrels and larger, undesirable birds. Four well-spaced feeding ports allows for multiple birds to feed simultaneously. Enclosed seed housing keeps up to 2.5 cups of seeds fresh and dry preventing moldy buildup which is harmful for birds. Clear housing lets you see when it's time to replenish seeds. Simply unlatch and raise the lid to refill. PREMIUM QUALITY: Premium steel cage. Long lasting and chew-proof. Built to last a lifetime. The best they can do is give him some money.

This is the first bird feeder that is 97% squirrel proof. The squirrels are attached to it, but the cage is too small for them to put their paws in. The best they can do is tip it over to spill the seeds on the ground. I wish I had had this feeder many years ago. I recommend it.

Pros
  • Beautifully packaged
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Bird feeder for squirrels! ; )

I love this feeder but if being "squirrel proof" is really important to you then I have to tell you that our garden squirrels figured it out in 30 minutes and are literally lining up to eat from it. But I like to watch them, so it doesn't bother me. But that's the only reason not to give 5 stars.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Great for birds, only if you don't have squirrels

Birds love it, but unfortunately so do the squirrels, even though they need to be protected from squirrels. The little bastard swings on him until he knocks him down, then uses his legs to grab food. NOTE: Fixed so the squirrel couldn't let go of it and they destroyed the feeder beyond repair. Defiantly, the protein does NOT stop.

  • Hands free

  • Not bad, but...

Not squirrel proof for birds

The first day I put it on the squirrel quickly figured out how to take off the top and help himself. When I put it back on, the lid comes off within a few hours. Now there is also a hole in the plastic, which they also chewed through. It seems to have deterred birds more than squirrels, as I seldom see anyone use it except for a cardinal. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Small birds eat - larger birds (pigeons) cannot shake out the seed.

I bought 3 of these at the price of a "best" feeder. This is a great bird feeder. Small birds eat - large birds cannot empty it. I read in another review that it was cheaply made. I totally disagree. The wire frame is strong and fits perfectly. The metal plate snaps firmly into place and stays securely in place. The Medium Plastic Feeder is made of durable plastic. It's easy to load, easy to hang, and keeps pigeons away so they can't toss all the seeds on the ground. It's smaller than other…

What do you expect at this price

Bought to keep the grackle seeds out of season and it really is. However, to claim that it is even resistant to proteins is a stretch as I think a busy rabbit could open the lid. Basically, the quality is what you would expect for the price. The plastic tube is very thin and looks like it will break easily. The bird access ports are fused together so the tube cannot be completely removed from the cage for cleaning. Small seeds like millet almost fall out of the seed holes, but large seeds like…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • I don't really like anything everything is fine

"Big, Unwanted Birds " LOVE this feeder! PS, flow.

EDIT: 2020 - Seeds get wet quickly in this feeder in our rainy winters. I'll buy something much more waterproof. This feeder is easy to fill. The processing is good considering the price. But as far as protection from "big unwanted birds" goes, that's a false statement when it comes to jays in this camp. The designer forgot that large birds have prehensile paws and long beaks that fit into tight spaces. But at least the jays can't clean it up as quickly as a feeding hopper, and the seeds they…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some Bugs

Our squirrels literally chewed through the plastic body of our previous feeder to get to the seeds. It took the birds about a week to get used to the cage design, but once they found it safe they didn't skip a single step. For better or worse, depending on your preference, this design also appears to discourage some of our larger birds from eating. Pigeons and Great Blue Jays are forced to search for fallen seeds on the ground. From my point of view this is just great because it has the added…
