Support for immature software - don't expect stability

I was building some applications with a Raspberry Pi and decided to give it a try to improve performance. It seems better (I haven't done any serious testing), but software support leaves a lot to be desired. This might be a good choice for those who enjoy debugging software package issues, but it's not the best choice for those who want a stable Linux platform for other developments. what he explains, but there he points to download areas that are a complete mess of broken links and bad HTMLโ€ฆ

Lots of promises. That's it already

I really wanted to have that. Damn I bought 2. I used the first one as an OMV server which I thought worked fine until I realized the transmission speed wasn't USB 3.0 (I thought it had to do with LAN transmission but got it down to a limited port). The other is the one I'm using as a home theater media center after waiting months for a viable Kodi program. It can be used, but not much. A year has passed. I'm giving up and buying a new Pi. Update: I'm demoting it to 1 star, it's a year laterโ€ฆ

Pros: I was looking for a device to build with.

Good: I was looking for a NAS/Samba server builder with a 3TB USB 3.0 hard drive. I have a Raspberry Pi 3, but the device uses USB 2.0 and generally has poor performance. This device has a USB 3.0 port and a true Gigabit Ethernet port. It works very well so far. I estimate around 60 MB/s on average with constant bursts of almost 100 MB/s. Downloads fluctuate around 28 MB/s. I built the whole system for about $120 ($70 drive, $40 board, $10 microSD) and existing power supply. The whole setupโ€ฆ

Only suitable for running a file server, not for a media player or an audio or video related hack project.

Just because the hardware can do a lot of amazing things doesn't mean you can enjoy everything. There is no good operating system for this device that allows you to watch YouTube even at 720p. Do not buy this board if you are using a media server. You will waste a lot of time and energy and end up disappointed. RetroPi game console? No, this board is not for you. The only use case that works well is as a file server. Whether NAS or home cloud, this device convinces with USB3 and Gigabitโ€ฆ

Excellent hardware, primitive software.

I bought this board to improve OpenVPN performance over Raspberry Pi 3. By default, the only general purpose operating software available did not support OpenVPN. Also, the included Linux kernel did not use any kernel modules. Everything is compiled directly into the kernel. This means that if you need a feature that isn't already enabled, you'll have to compile a new kernel from scratch and build the install image yourself. So far I've finally made it, but it took 2 weeks of effort and theโ€ฆ

Great upgrade to Raspberry Pi at a lower price

This is an amazing device. The specs are much higher than the Raspberry Pi. I bought this with the intention of using it as micro network storage (NAS) and as it has gigabit ethernet and USB 3.0 it was a much better choice than the Raspberry Pi. Pro uses DDR3 memory instead of DDR or even SDRAM in older versions of Raspberry Pi - Has built-in Gigabit Ethernet - Has 1 USB 3.0 port for faster data transfer Con - Doesn't have built-in WIFI or Bluetooth, so you will Need a USB dongle if you want to

This is not a well supported board, look elsewhere for up to date Linux support

I bought this board as it appears to be a reasonably capable Raspberry Pi clone at a low price. It turns out that the board is not well supported by the current software. On the Libre website, the latest available version of Ubuntu is 18.04. Armbian claims to work on this board, but the last Armbian I was able to download was Armbian_5.98_Renegade_Debian_buster_default_4.4.192_minimal. All the newer builds I tried didn't load at all. I asked about this on the Armbian forums and was basicallyโ€ฆ
