Yes, it's canvas! It's very thin, but it has a nice sturdiness to it. If you don't like textured paper, this isn't for you, as it definitely has a very fine canvas feel. It's not as textured as canvas you'd use for acrylics or oil, but it's fine. It does warp slightly when you use a wash, but being canvas, it's easier to flatten it back out, because it doesn't get stiff like some other watercolor papers I've used.It takes a while for the paint to dry on it, because it soaks up the color well…

Great for small works or planning larger works in the field, these pads do not have the usual "canvas" paper, but rather actual canvas. Each sheet is gessoed on one side and natural on the other. The edges are glue-bound at the top. They are fastened firmly enough to stay bound if you want to use this as a sketchbook, but the pages can be removed for framing. I love this canvas pad! The quality is excellent, and it can withstand a lot of abuse. About 50% of my paintings are done on canvas pad because I don't want canvases piling up everywhere. This stuff is GREAT! It handles double layers of gesso well and holds up perfectly though countess touch ups, scrape offs and re-dos. It's so handy to use canvas pad and is such a space saver, and this brand is the best I have found! Very happy with it and will definitely be buying lots more!

This canvas pad paper is awesome to paint on. It is very thick and works great with acrylic, which is what I am using right now. It actually feels more like canvas than paper and should look great framed. This is a good alternative for someone who does not like the stretched or rigid canvas boards as the sheets can be taken off and used on a table with ease. I would gladly get this again.

The actual paper is a bit hard to separate from the pad itself. It got ripped a little when taking the first page out. The second was easier to take off.It holds acrylic paint well and the tape comes off of it well too. The material is very sensitive and easy to fold. Just handle with care but otherwise it does a good job.

These paper pads are an awesome large size for projects, I got the 12x16 size. The paper has a very unique feeling to it and I really like it. It is lightweight and on the thinner side, kind of like cloth. When using it for watercolor or gouache it can buckle a bit but after it is attached to the a wooden frames it becomes nice and flat. This made painting very difficult. There ended up being little fragments of paper messing up my painting. I like that it doesn't need to be stretched nor did it buckle. That part is good. My complaint is that it does not handle the paint too well. It is hard to describe, but paint was just not cooperating as well as usual. I had a friend try this, and she threw away two pieces before giving up on her third.
