Type of review

See attached photo to see condition after weeks at the beach. Although it is stamped '316', it is almost certainly NOT true '316' stainless steel. I have an oceanfront home and have learned the hard way that the ONLY metal that will survive in this environment is true 316 stainless steel. Anything else will start to rust immediately (even 304/305 stainless steel). I've installed a lot of "316" hardware that works incredibly well. And this item immediately began to rust. AVOID.

  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • No Performance

Great for boat lines

I got tired of constantly cleaning the brass clips I used for my rod lines (to avoid accidentally throwing my rod overboard). I bought a few of these and replaced my old ones and so far they are working great. I like the slip-on mechanism and it seems the design is less likely to break (compared to a spring-loaded slide or jaw mechanism). I have no rust yet but have only used them on a couple of trips. I can think of many uses for being around salt water (dog leashes, clothes lines).

Pros
  • Spring Clasps
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

Great price for a very well made carabiner

I have been using this style of carabiner to attach tool slings to my weight belt for over forty years. As a former commercial diver and now a recreational diver, I agree with the idea that you attach a string to everything you don't lose while diving, like knives, flashlights, tools, fishing bags, landing nets. These slim carabiners are perfect for the job so they don't snag on line or driftwood. They also easily attach and detach from the D-ring. I was surprised to find them at such a good…

  • Industrial gear
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
