At least disappointed

I was very surprised by the size of the device. I was expecting it to be a little "more pocketable", but it's quite large. Anyway, I put new batteries in, followed the instructions, got the laser but it didn't register a reading at any RPM. Disappointed to say the least.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Not automatic

They are alright. Have they removed and reinstalled several times

Maybe I also got a lemon. The laser worked, the RPM fluctuated wildly and I only checked 33.3 RPM. I've got insane readings in the 2000rpm range, 300rpm and so on. I checked the batteries with a multimeter and they are fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times, nothing. Called Pyle, they said send it in for calibration. too much trouble i give it back

Pros
  • Check, measure and control
Cons
  • little things

I use this to check case fan speed. Works like a champ.

I use this to check case fan speed. If one of them goes out of range, I know it's time to replace it. This is an easy and inexpensive way to prevent overheating and replacement of other parts due to a failed fan. I need a non-contact laser tachometer for this job and I found it to be good value for the money. So far it has worked fine. When in use, it outputs a reading once per second. I find the "Max" and "Min" values very useful for determining if it's time to replace a device. Often a high…

Pros
  • Tachometer
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
